Thread: max damage/max ham mutant rancor combines

Well, I went out and got some MR samples and put them to good use last night. My goal was to try to do a "max damage" combine, and a "max ham" combine. I didn't document the results as well as I should have, but here are the results:


I found a merek harvester that had 13.6k of HAM, and a mutant rancor that had well over 14k of HAM, and combined the two: MR - MH - MH - MH - MR


I used all my experimentation points and the result was an extremely impressive creature featuring 14.3k of health. The problem was that he was also CL 74(!). Never thought that was possible using only 2 MR samples. In hindsight I should have witheld experimenting on mental I believe.


Ok, so my second combine was a "max damage" combine. I used mutant rancor, vexed voritor, and merek death's head. I carefully selected samples of each that had a minimum of 700 power (I believe the MR had 750+, the MDH had 725, and the VV had 700). Then of course I maxed out the experimentation on aggr. The result was surprising, and very dissappointing. It resulted in a critter with only 600 damage (I think it was 580-600). I was actually expecting something closer to 700 than 600, which makes me think that there may be a hard cap at 600 damage. Oh, I believe the combine was: MR - VV - MDH - MR - MDH

lol... I have this CL 82 torton labelled "an enraged torton" stuck on my vendor. People keep asking about it, I've had people offer to buy it for 200k+ several times, but they never seem to come back and pick it up (hehe pehaps they wise up)


I don't think that MDH is the real problem. I get the jist that there's a ramping cap on the damage output, which is why I use triple calls when I'm going for high damage output.

ON swgcreatures the combine gives 590-600 damage so I dont think it was a hard cap on that. OUt of interest what level did it come out?
Sadly using 5 MR samples would give a max damage of just over 600.

I hope that there is not a hard cap at 600. Some day I will get that reclusive cavern spider queen DNA and put that in Aggression (as far as I can see she has the highest damage of creatures that we can sample), maybe in Phys slot also (might make it overshoot cl 70 though), and Vexed Voritors in the rest.

Hmm, well here's the thing:


merek death's head: 480-670 (power = 725)

vexed voritor: 630-640 (power = 700)

mutant rancor: 495-700 (power = 750)


now, combining those three, and fully experimenting, it's very difficult to see how this combine would produce a max damage of only 600 unless there was a cap that we were butting into here. And I realize that I may have sacrificed just a "smidge" or damage by putting MDH in slot 5 rather than MR, but as you can see above, the power isn't all that different on the two, and I wanted the specials from the MDH.


I can check what the CL was on it when I get home, but it was in the mid-60's I believe. The resists were dreadful on this creature as you can imagine, but that was kind of the whole point of it.

It's very possible I'm wrong, but I seem to recall getting a 620 for max damage on a pet more than once. I'd have to go home and check my notes for sure. The pet I'm thinking of turned out level 73, and I put it back into the gene pool as a second gen pet. This was back in February, so things might have changed. I hope we don't have a 600 max damage cap. Cool pet BTW.

I dunno I'm not a professional but the official guide on tha page says something like the damage comes from 70% aggr and then the rest other stats like mental and prowess. Might that be something to keep in mind next time?

Last night I confirmed no hard cap on max damage. My old recipe was a 3rd gen pet. It listed the final creature as having 620 max damage. I was unwilling to believe that the old recipe still worked after all the changes since February. So, to test the 600 damage cap, I went to Dath, got a bunch of MR and put 5 samples into a pet. I then maxed aggression to get a power of 750. The resulting pet had 620 max damage, it was also level 82. Another statue for the collection.

damn, well thanks for checking that. So the dna we're getting maxes out at 10-15% below the wild creature then in terms of damage? Blech. I wish I had some way of verifying the damage listed on www.swgcreatures.com. Perhaps it's just listed incorrecly there on some of this "high damage" creatures.
