Not entirely sure of the question you're asking...price depends on alot of factors.

There is a downloadable Bio-engineer price calculator somewhere whichshould giveyou a rough estimate.

We do??!

I don't charge based on meat/flora at all, the only important considerations areDNA type/quality and the resultant stats of the creature.

You can use the cheapest andnastiest flora/meat you can find and it won't effect the end result at all, so I don't see why that should be a factor in pricing.

it's a mock question. to get you to think about something. We are the only folk who charge based on results.

It'd be kinda like, if you were a weaponsmith... and you wanted to make a gun, right? but you dont know what metals you can use. So you go out and get a bunch of random metals, all of which are different so you cant put it in a factory... the gun turns out, you spend days experimenting and tweaking your formula, and now that you have it, you have to make every gun by hand... even tho there isnt a whole lot of resources to be put into it, people are paying for your knowledge and research, your work, and your results. If people were only gonna pay knowing that hardly any resources went into the gun, they'd feel ripped off... but our time and care and curiousity went into it =) Thats what they pay for. There is no such thing as CPU with clones.

Yep, if we charged in cpu, hell i'd just use gnort dna for everything...

Btw what IS an acceptable price for pets?

I made a CL56 Kimogila:-

11k HAM, Light Armour, 60/44/80/-/80/80/-/39 resists, 2.13spd, 0.51to hit, 390-400dmg, strong disease

how much should i have charged for it?

I got Doctor buffed last night, lasted 3 hours. In that time I used 5k in flights and made 3 pets. Weaponsmiths can make more than 3 weapons in 3 hours.

Why are you even asking that question?

yeah, weaponsmiths can:

  1. place a harvestor and

  2. come back 2 days later a get thousands of units of resources,

  3. make a schematic,

  4. put in a factory,

  5. come back 2 days later and get hundreds of products to sell.

we have to make products 1 at a time, and we have to gather the resources (dna) by hand.

if they make an extractor for DNA, and let cloned by made in factories, then there would be some kind of comparison... but as it is now, there is NO comparing us to Weaponsmiths.

p.s. I even hate it when BE's try to use the "weaponsmith" analogy with CH's - because a tame creature is not the same thing as a cdef pistol - I just hate any attempt to treat a pet like a gun or armor because pets move around and have a "mind" of their own (in a gameplay sense) and just not the same thing... more like companions (whether it be factional soldier pets, or droids, or whatever).

Still, it is possible for a pricing system to be worked out along those lines.

RY DNA = 10,000cr

MR DNA = 20,000cr

So an end result from MR, MR, MR, RY and RY would be 80k

I was actually thinking about something along these lines the other night for DNA sales. Add up all the stats on a DNA sample times the level/10 and theres your price per unit.

Worrt (lvl 6) - 1212

Desert Eopie (lvl 16) - 4419

Rho Kwi Pack Leader (lvl 50)- 26045

Mutant Rancor (lvl 75) - 49935

Seems to scale ok, though that'd make an all MR pet 250k without taking into account the skill of the BE. As you said though, just throwing a bunch of MR samples together doesn't garentee a good pet, so the result is still what counts...

There should be a base charge of maybe 15k for the time of sampling and then I donno.

I sell my 4k ham nonch cl10 pets for around 25k and people still think it's too much??

Is it?

I guess it depends on the recipe you use. I charge 30k for some of mine, but thats for multi genrations stuff that has nice resists/HAM. If I used a recipe where I could just through things together, I'd probably charge less.

I also seem to always blow out Sub10 pets if I experiment on them (even one point),so all in all, they are a pain in the backside for me to make, hence the high cost.
