I am starting a Medic with the eventual goal of being a

Bio Engineer. I would sincerely appreciate any advice

on Stat placement, tips on gaining skills at a reasonably

rapid pace, what professions a/or skills from other

professions help, and game play to make it enjoyable as I

progress up the skill tree. I confess to being completely

clueless about crafting and most things non combat so

any guidance would be most welcome.

Your first step is the FAQ that is stickied up at the top. There is a lot of excellent information up there and many of your questions will probably be answered. That is how I got my start in this most excellent profession.

May not have to adjust anything for bio, NDA sampling uses a whole lot of mind, but Brandy or Muon may be all you need=)

As above, read

I had read the FAQ but it talks about creature specifics but not about setting up your character - Unless I missed it???? nothing about how to do your own personal stats? Am I missing something in the FAQ thread?

As far as your personal stats go, the only thing I ever adjusted was anything to do with "mind". My character is devoted soley to BE, so I don't worry too much about health and action (meaing I run screaming like a little girl if the going gets tough). With a shot of Vasarian Brandy, I can sample and craft without ever worrying about a down time.

I enjoy the pet making aspects of the profession so I'm set as Master Bio-Engineer, Master Scout, Ranger for the "tracking" branch, 3 boxes in surveying, and enough merchant to place 2 vendors and show on the planetary map. I noticed a huge difference in successfully sneaking up on and sampling the nastier critters once I mastered Scout and the Ranger skills make it all the easier to find them.

With a search of the threads you can probably turn up a few macros for sampling dna and doing some of the less complex crafting if you're the sort who wants to get the lower boxes out of the way by grinding.....hope some of this helps!

Oh yes, as I was climbing the BE tree, I also took on Pistoleer to help collect resources as I progressed, then slowly dropped it as the need arised. This meant adjusting my stats more then once, but that was back before Brandy; now you probably wouldn't have to alter stats too much as long as you don't mind being a drunk...

As far as HAM stats here is what you do bud:

Buy a good set of Ubese. Put it on. Adjust your stats so you can wear it unbuffed. Take the rest of the points and put it in your secondaries in mind.. I'm a Mon Cal and my mindis 800/600/600. Works well for me.

Because I'm also a fighting MBE (TKM) I applied some liberal pts to my health and action and their secondaries...

It all comes down to personal choice... But wearing armor is a MUST unless you dont mind dying alot.

I should also mention you want to make an armor macro... dont sample with your armor on
