A few times after sampling the DNA of some of the creatures I have made, the creature disappears! Anyone else having this problem? Any advice? It makes making second gen creatures a bit risky (if I am interested in keeping some of the first gen).

it works like sampling regular animals. Regulars die after at most 5 samples (for me anyway), clones 'die' by disappearing after 3 samples.

course then there are those that you get a whopping 0 from before they die. Especially when you use hard-to-get dna.
