Thread: Ok i am confused
At novice BE you are best off sampling very small animals - level 3-4 ish or so. As you advance up the DNA sampling tree you will be able to sample creatures with higher combat levels.
Also make sure you have room in your inventory - DNA does not stack and you will not get a special message if that is the problem.
If you are having no luck with small creatures and your inventory is not full - move on and try somewhere else with equally small animals.

Seriously thou... In addition to what Dor said, if a particular animal isn't giving up the goods... move on to the next little fuzzy bastich. Sometimes they are anoying like that and a different critter will let you sample it. Also, sample success rates are tied to creature level. So you are more likely to get a sample from a lower level animal. So while leveling up in sampling, try not to aim to high with your targets CL. Master BEs can sample up to level 75, but the odds of getting a sample are pretty low. (and the stupid things tend to die very quickly too)
