Vertexon made the following post on the Scout board.

Not sure if anyone has posted this information yet, but I thought I'd share some initial observations from my milking experience tonight:

You must be within 3 meters of a creature to milk it (an option on the radial menu of milkable creatures). You and the creature must remain relatively still during the entire process. If the creature moves (even a few meters) the process will fail and you'll have to start over. In this case, you will fail even if you moved with it and stayed inside the three meter distance. Creatures that constantly move around (like every humbaba I encountered) are extremely difficult to milk. Creatures resting on the ground are very easy.

The creatures you'd expect to be milkable pretty much are. On Corellia this includes at least:

humbabas

paralopes

krahbu (not violent krahbu)

bageraset

sharnaff (not sharnaff bulls )

Aggressive creatures do not appear to be milkable, even if they are a variant of a milkable herbivore (example: krahbu are milkable, violent krahbu are not)

Babies are milkable

Creatures in combat are milkable (I was able to successfully milk a humbaba while it fought a tabage).

Milkdoes not auto-stack in your inventory. You must combine the stacks by hand.

The milking process is a series of system messages, as follows:

You relax the creature and begin to milk it.
You continue to milk the creature.
You continue to milk the creature.
You have successfully gathered milk from the creature!

You can only successfully get milk from a creature once. After you have obtained milk, every subsequent attempt to milk that creature will give you the message that it is "dry of milk."

I did not keep careful records of the quantities, but average yield seemed to be 10-30. After an hour or so of milking, I had over 200 units.

On Naboo it is Ikopi, Kaadu (Kaduu?) and...never get the name of this beast right but it is Gauralama or something like that.

If anybody finds out what gives domesticated milk, please let me know...that is what we need the most.

I wouldn't call it gay, but perverse. Isn't milking a baby animal illegel in most states? I hope that fix that, it is just wrong. Milk will be needed in high amounts, so milking multiple times is needed. Seems a lot like dna sampling to me.

Hmm, interesting that the milk yield would be so much higher than the fish and egg yields (which I gather are both going up).

I'm happy about the milk thing, but couldpotentially be a lot happier about the fish thing. Fish would be much more valuable to me then milk in all probability (after the price of CH clothing crashes down to a reasonable level).

I am mistaken, or is the 'milking' skill dependent on the Hunting line of Scout?

I have wondered if we can get some sort of Bio-Harvester.

Maybe get a factory type thing that will need to be seeded with a certain type of rescource, and have the factory/harvester make more of that rescourse...

Cool Milking!!!

Now I wonder how we will get Mollusks???

Random Finds on Beaches?

Go swiming for a while and get them stuck to us?

So anywise...I wonder if perhaps Chefs will be able to make Cheese or Butter from the milk.

But also...I wonder if Milk cartons will have info on them.....like SPAM from SOE.

Or maybe a: "Have you seen this Person?" type thing.

Hmmm

Don't be so touchy Talthazar, I didn't mean the farming industry (I grew up in cattle country), I meant the messages.

Oh, and for others that might have been offended, I didn't mean 'gay' as in homosexual. I meant it as it's most comonly used these days - odd, aberant, unaceptable, wierd, obtuse, deviant, and/or just plain out irregular.

Man, I wonder what it was like back in the day when gay meant happy...

At least they didn't make it "You begin milking the cow - You begin singing a cow milking song - you sing 'Milk, milk, milk, milk, Milk, milk milk milk' - you have collected four milk!"

Isn't murdering random people standing around a city illegal too? That hasn't stopped people from playing the game thus far!

P.S. And no, Meatlumps and Ragtags don't aggro you until you murder a few hundred of them... but that's off the topic of milking.

Ok, is it just me or does this sound incredibly gay?

"You relax the creature and begin to milk it.You continue to milk the creature. You continue to milk the creature. You have successfully gathered milk from the creature!"

Are they going to issue new clothing for scouts to wear when milking? say a nice bonnet and some leiderhosen?

Sure, we all want milk but this is demoralizing.

As grandson of a dairy farmer, there's nothing "gay" about milking.

Mmmm.. milking.. nothing gay about milking.. squeezing the teets of the obedient animals.. mmmm.. yes...

Maybe this will be a new phase for SWG.

Proper agriculture!!!

Stables for our CH pets! Milking installations. Simply place your herbivore pet into the installation, and watch it get milked dry!

I think agriculture should have a more prominent position. GO SWG FARMERS!
