Thread: so what happens when you use your old dna to make a pet now?

I have enough pre-CU DNA left to make a few pets. Has anyone made a pet with the old DNA? Do you get pre-CU stats, a pre-CU template and a pre-CU creature until you tame it? I would hate to waste this DNA if it is useful.

If it didn't get converted, you may be alright for now. The problem seems to be in the sub-stats all being 1k. It's pushing the armor and resistance up too high. If you still have low ones they should be OK. The only thing you can do is try. My server is down ATM so I can't check it out. I know I had some pre CU stuff. If you don't figure it out before TC Prime comes back up, I'll let you know.

Well I have BE 2334 (was 2333 before respecing) and created a critter using existing dna that was in storage either on my character or in a cupboard somewhere. I used all 5 Above Average DNA and made a .. a .. ern .. can't remember exactly but like a wolf type creature. Anyway, whether it was the extra experimentation box this was my best critter yet. Level 28 with reasonable resistance. Pre CU the best I made was around Level 20. My fiance who has decided to give creature handler a try is testing this buddy out as a companion fighter.

I've been trying the VD VD NS NS NS recipe for 6k CL10s and they are coming out CL11 every time now- only tested 5 of them, but I never remember results like this - so they either did some tweaking to some recipes (I used OLD DNA I had stashed) or the 'generic' crafting system every other profession uses has been placed on pet crafting. Maybe the new Dev handling BE had no clue - I don't know, but I'm thinking our old system and formulas may be broken or gone.


Anyone else noticed the new percentage stats on Generic DNA Template crafting? Each of the attributes now lists 2 creature stats - both at 100% weight.....

I played around with it two nights ago. I was trying to clear out my old "bio-labs" to make room for new stuff so I tried some combines just to use up the dna if nothing else. Basically everyone is bugging me right now for "max level" pets, because most that have creature handler are people re-specing into it at the master level. So my goal was to try to create something unarmored, that had the highest HAM, damage, and creature level that I could muster.


something with a lotta heath -mid level animal -mid level animal -mid level animal - something that does a ton of damage (I was using vexed voritor and merek death's head).


The creatures came out in the CL 50's, with 10k-11k of health, no armor, and max damage in the 600's. I suspect that these creatures will be pretty useful but since I lack the CH skills to use them I can't verify that myself.


Incidentally, people have pretty much stripped my pet vendor clean of pets now. There is a pet-buying frenzy. The people that have reported back to me on how pets I've made for them pre-cu have given me a confusing mix of reports.


Some animals get respected, and of those that do, some are very useful if you adjust their level, and some aren't. And I can't even see a consistent pattern there. /shrug, I have no clue at this point.

Well, the old DNA still works. Perhaps too well.


I tossed some gnarled rancor, hermit spider queen, torton and docile kahumurra DNA into a template, then into a sharnaff skin.


Level 36. H bar 8737. A bar (thought this was going away? Has on Tazz's natural tames, and on toons)6906. M bar 4322. Still shows the various resists and specials in the datapad once tamed, which is not true for natural tames that were converted. If they work or not or make a difference, who can say? Combat spam is remarkably unhelpful in figuring out what the heck is going on now. It's as if the devs don't want us to be able to analyze an encounter. Which I would not put past them at all. Players are far too intelligent for the likes of the devs, which is why they want to purge adults and cater to the PS2 crowd.


Mind you, a natural rancor has an H bar of 5380 now. And is still level 50.


I will not be surprised if a lot of business comes to BEs from CHs looking for pets more than 100% more powerfulthan they can hope to tame in the wild now.

I have gotten mixed results as a Master BE/CH pre CU i had great recipie for a lvl 50-55 depending on how well experimentation went. I had collected some dna before the CU but not much. I used the recipie for the 50-55 pet and got a lvl 221 pet. I also got some in a usable range but i suspect that when bought and tamed they will have to be converted and if the ch uses the lvl to stats option they will probably wind up with a pet in the 200+lvl range for any pre CU BE pets over lvl 45 anything under lvl 45 they may be able to have the lvl changed to match the stats and have a pet lvl 70 or less. most of my pets before the cu were be pets. This is the results i got using the lvl to stats option both of my lvl 50somethings became over lvl 200 my lvl 39 became a lvl 52 my lvl 32 became a lvl 62 after these results i had the rest changed by having stats changed to match the lvl. With the limited amount of time i get to play. I will be checking the forums to find out how the new system works on making pets i tried some of my old recepies with dna gathered after the CU and have yet to make a usable pet everthing so far has been lvl 150 or more.

I made a pet with 2 MR, 2 YMPW and some Ancient Graul samples I had lying about...came out cl214

Also...I decided to respec an uber cl10 by level...and it came out as cl12. The difference between a cl10 with 3k HAM and a cl12 with 9k HAM seems a little excessive to me

I too had a fairly successful conversion when I re-leveled one of my uber level 10s. It came out to a level 20 after respec, which is alright with me since I can use it as a triplet. However, the first pet I re-leveled was a lovely pre-CURB level 24 but jumped to level 198 after the conversion. Needless to say, I have been fearful of re-leveling any of my other pets and when I adjust the stats instead I am simply. . . disappointed. In summary, my pre-CURB pets with great stats either get converted to a very high CL or the stats get nerfed to futility. The only success I have had is converting the old uber level 10s. I suspect the armor, or lack thereof,has a lot to do with it.


So based on the great info. you guys have provided, I think the best use of the old DNA is to try and make the best pet possible without breaking the 500 fortitude barrier and re-leveling it upon taming. I will try this and report back.

I attempted to make a pet with pre-cu DNA. Ended up with what would've been a decent lvl65-70 pet but it landed at lvl228.
