Thread: Some say its not a bug.. who do you think is right?
Do you think the uber non-ch pets are a bug or intended? Inquiring minds want to know.

This is pretty much a beaten dead horse subject but . . . why would the Devs make such major changes to the CH profession, relevel all pets, change the limit to level for non CH, if they intended a level 10 pet to be anything close to "uber"? Wouldn't that negate the whole point of the CH and pet changes they just made?
Read back in the BE forums, we've all discused, argued, etc. this whole issue and we've all come up with our own assumptions, and that's what they will be until the Devs speak (and I wish they would do so now).
i feel it's a bug, and i won't sell my customers anything that is in the sights for a fix.
as this is so making 2k hams with 56% kinetic resists and medium poison ranged attacks is what i'm selling.
A CL10 animal with 2K HAM, low resists, 90-110 damage, a special and a ranged attack probably wouldn't qualify as an uber-pet. This is an animal "working as intended."
A CL5 animal with 8K HAM, 48% resists to everything, same damage and specials with a ranged attack would qualify however. This animal completely destroys the creature level classification and helps to drive out creature handlers. If animals like this contunue or are called "working as intended" by the devs then the only creature handlers you'll find in-game will be the bio-engineer creature handler combos.
I don't think that's what the dev's intended.
I believe the non-chpets with 8K+HAM, 50%+ Resists across the board and other major bonuses due to Kamu DNA being included are a bug. Very few people dispute this.
I don't believe that allnon-ch tanks are, however. People are continually trying to erase that line between the exploited creatures and just good results.(IE:Pure Ronto templates are apparently just as bad as inbred Kamu ones, even though one gives drastically more realistic results than the other.)
Your missing the mark on what the devs were trying to accomplish.
- Problem with old CH tree and system.
Someone with no more than 3/2/0/0 (not even half)into the profession had nearly all the benefits and creatures a Master CH had. The fact was, even at the Master CH level the pets used at 3/2/0/0 were identical. Graul Maulers and GSP's. You'd have some that did pvp too, so the pets got a little varied there, but in terms of PVE, it was always the graul mauler and GSP. The only benefit to becoming a MCH at that point was to have 2 full grown graul maulers and 3 GSP's. And some extra commands. The bulk of benefit (creatures) of the CH tree came from only 3/2/0/0. That is what they fixed with the CH tree changes. No where in they're explanation to the community did they say they wanted to nerf non-ch's to hell and back. They simply didn't want lower level ch's having the same pets and benefits of masters. There needs to be a good size difference.
Now the only thing that would blow this out of the water, if in fact non-ch pets could be made better than a pet a mch can use. But I've not yet seen this to be the case. Theres alot more to a pet than just HAM.
- Creature changes
Creature changes were done relatively independent of the CH system. In short combat is being revamped in the game, and the creatures in the game were the first step. This was not neccessarily aimed at CH's. Game wide creatures and npc's on average have been made easier to kill, while they're AI was "upped" For example Force sensitives using force powers, npc's using weapon specials... like "Cho sun" and "advanced strafe".

i dunno how many animals they got but they should just make CH levels be reliant upon levels. Then you could only get a bantha if you were a level 1 whatever.. then with the BE stuff have only certain pets get certain things!
But i have to admit its cool to get a gurreck that can poisen!
A non-CH pet with maybe 25% resists and a couple nice specials and reasonable HAM is the product of good bio engineering.
Notice how I didn't say what reasonable HAM is.... I don't quite feel ready to decide what that should be.
