I have read countless posts in this forum hoping to find the answers to my question but have not yet found those answers. What i want to know is this... of all the information on a dna sample which carry over to the dna template and what quality affects what final stats. Dont get me wrong i have seen some impressive recipe's posted but i would like to try and throw a little logic into the mix and weed through the piles of dna that i aquire looking for the stats that i am trying to get. as a side note... i have seen a couple posts about armor (it can only be gotten by experimenting) is this true? Please if anyone can help or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it basically i want to know what dna traits affect the which final creature stats.

.................... next time ill buy a game that actually comes with instructions

thanks.

People are still trying to figure this out and no one has, of yet, drawn everything together into one easy to use guide. Hopefully Talthazar will do that as the BE dev seems to have no interest in providing us with documentation (despite expressing remorse that he didn't provide documentation for the original system).

Its a work in progress and several of are working very hard to try and work out both the rules and the gotchas to the system. I'd recommend looking at

for a lot of good ideas on how the system works.

on a side note.... does anyone know if the creature template plays a role in the final statistics of the animal or is it based solely on the dna used... for example if i used 5 aa merek harvester dna to create a critter would the stats be the same if it were a kaadu or a kimogilia?

On the Armor,

It can be gotten w/o experimenting If you put Mutant Rancor DNA( or another CL75 critter. If someone ever finds one..lol) into slot 1 & 2 and DNA with 500ish fort. in the other slots.

Well as a Master Bio-Engineer and Master Scout and Master Creature Handler I can say with certainty that trying to sample something that high of a level is almost impossible.

For some reason the level caps for DNA sampling have been changed so that I dont know what the maximum level a master Can sample is anymore.

Lets just say I fail alot on levels 60+ enough that I dont think I have ever gotten DNA from them, just agrovated creatures.

As master BE/CH with explore 4 I have to say the system is weird. I spent2 days crawling upto Mutant Rancors and being aggrod before I could try. I spent another 3 days crawling upto them and then get 7 or 8 tries before they aggrod me. Burst run away, set up camp wait to get burst run back, tear down camp and try again. I must have wasted a good 15 hours over those 3 days, Tried again the 4th day, crawled upto 1, tried failed, tried suceeded and it died. Switched to the next one about the same results. Third one aggro'd me, burst run away. Rinse repeat. 9 samples later (about 1 hour later as well) I came away with 10 samples. (Admittedly 6 of them were only above average and only 1 was Very High, sigh . . .) Still there is something weird going on. I've noticed on a lot of creatures my sampling results are poor when I start sampling them and get better over time.

Yeah the "skin" does seem to play a limited role. It will determine the absolute minimum level for the creature, so if you put a DNA template with CL 10 DNA into a kimogila skin you will end up with a CL40(?) creature that has lousy stats. It also seems to determine whether the creature is aggressive or not. This means that creatures like the Woolimander can be made CL10 but will never be a non-CH pet. Skin effects the run speed of the animal so the cat skins tend to be faster than anything else. The bunnies tend to be very slow etc. Lastly of course skin determines whether the pet will ever be mountable. Those are the only effects that I'm aware of.

ok i think i get the skin question... if i use a kaadu skin it will be mountable regardless of stats and will always be at least level 10 (but up to level 70?). and if i were to use the kimo skin the creature will always be at least level 40 (no matter if the ham were 200) but up to level 70... is that right?

Almost, level can go above 70, it's just worthless if it does.
