Do generic DNA templates crit fail when pet is too good?

I was about to make this pet but it crit failed so I never got see the CL level. Since it crit failed I didnt get to see how it turned out but would have been something like this.

6kHealth <--- failure on experiment but still got light armor to stick.

4k Mind

LIGHT ARMOR

54% Kinetic

All else vuln.

400 Damage

Ranged- Strong Poison.

Because I got the Ham so low and only had Kinetic resist the CL level would have beenlow. Everytime I get somethingthis good it seems to critical fail. Ah just had to vent.
