I'm a MBE and people ask me to make them creatures (special order), you all know the request. High Ham, armor and resists that are really high. So when i happen to have bull rancor dna on me i'll make it there for them on the spot. And when i go to sell it to them they say, i'm not going to pay the price you want the stats on it are justmedicore pets.

My last pet that this happend to is this Graul

creature level= 61

Health= 11466

Action=10873

mind= 10299

armor= light

kinetic= 32

energy= 55

blast= 15

heat= 73

cold= 73

electricity=73

acid=15

stun= 15

attack spd= 1.99

to hit= 0.51

damage=520-530

special attack 1&2=dizzy strike

ranged attack= no

I was asking 75k for him i thought that was an outstanding price, but i can't seem to sell him. At this point i'm going to save him for myself as i'm 1 box from master CH. But my question is he medicore? And what would you sell him for. I mastered be mainly for the stims and to make me some killer pets. And only to just augment my income by selling pets.

And if it's just medicore, please give me some tips to make a better one.

if he thinks it's mediocre, sell it to someone else... I think those are nice stats... but compared to a graul mauler, or a kimogila, they are, just tell him, it's just a graul.

Hi to be honest it isnt that hot, the resists could be better and a second special would help. Try mixing graul dna and Rancor until you get the mix to work,you could also try mixing rancor and merek battlelord dna heavy poison attacks can really help to sell a pet. I would probably offer this pet at around 62k. It's a very subjective thing, some ppl look for very high resists, others like my self experiment to get as much damage out of a given cl as possible, it's all a matter of taste. Your attack speed and chance to hit are excellent.

First of all, congrats on making that good pet with no vulnerabilities, good speed and to hit value

Typically, what your customers bite depends on what they want to use the pet for. PvE or PvP? Mostly its for PvE and in those cases, high to max out on kinetic defense is crucial. What does this mean? probably along the lines of 50-60% kinetic.

Now to achieve this, from all the creatures that are available to us, we are bound to encounter some problems and vulnerabilities. However, because its PvE, they can also afford to have vulnerabilities in things like stun, cold and sometimes, even blast. from my own dealings, the things that are important are Kinetic, Energy, Heat, Electricity, Blast and Acid in that order of appearance. With that you can look for DNA that not only give you 60% kinetic but also, having the right vulnerabilities (or immunities to offset the vulnerabilities)in turn maygive you slightly better HAM

Pricing wise i think thats very cheap for a CL61pet but pricesvary from server to server and target market/customers. I think that if you manage to push the kinetic defense up above 50%, you should be able to sell the pet pretty fast depending on HOW you sell your pets. I would be at least expecting the price to hit 130k give or take. Of course, there are other fellow BE's that charge more and it make work for them on their server. you on the other hand may have to

1. have a look at other BE shops etc to see how much they are charging roughly (market research)

2. price your pets accordingly and monitor how fast they sell. if they go faster than you can stock on a vendor, its an indicator to raise the price a little. if they dont sell at all, make sure you're creating enough awareness. otherwise its an indicator to reduce prices a little and test again.

A good balance is when you're creations sell a little less faster or equal to the amout of time that it takes you to craft them at the pace which is comfortable to you. This way you are always stocked more or less.

The economy will always change so testing the market and monitoring how sales go is just part of the game when it comes to crafting and selling items.

Hope that helps, I wish you good luck

Play with Bark Mite Borrower Queen and Bark Mite Borrower DNA. try combining it with Horned Voritors (strong poison), Frenzied Grauls (to get the 60% kinetic)or even Mutant rancors

I sometimes do (left to right, up to down in sequence)

BMBQ (Bark Mite Borrower Queen)

HV

BMBQ

HV

BMBQ

and experiment up to get a good to hit and speed, decent damage, about 12k Ham and sometimes, both strong poison and diesease stick. Both kinetic and energy are above 50%. these goe really fast for me

The types of DNA I normally mix for CL 60+ pets are:

Mutant Rancor
Bull Rancor
Arachne Queen
Arachne Widow
Bark Mite Burrower Queen
Singing Mountain Clan Rancor

I normally work on Dathomir/Endor obviously There are good DNAs on Dantooine also for sure, I just have had incredibly bad luck with running into what I need there.

Your pets HAM is mediocre. The Kinetic could be higher which is what most people focus in on. But it does have no vulnerabilities and has nice combat stats. Honestly my own action would be to resample it and remix in some new DNA to try to bring up the kinetic and add a 2nd special to it. Even if it means a couple vulnerabilities. Can probably take it down to a low 50s or mid 40s and turn into a really nice pet.

The person I would consider the best BE on the Flurry galaxy made this:

Health: 11179
Action: 6673
Mind: 6942
Armor: Light
Kinetic: 35
Energy: 60
Blast: 8
Heat: 85
Cold: 85
Electricity: 85
Acid: 8
Stun: 8
Attack Speed: 2.31
To Hit: 0.2
Damage: 190-200
Special 1: KD
Special 2: Dizzy
Ranged Attack: No
Difficulty Level: 31

So yours has much better action, mind, and damage, but slightly worse overall resists at the cost of almost double the CL. Considering that with this pet at master I can also have this pet out:

Health: 11699
Action: 8486
Mind: 8073
Armor: Light
Kinetic: 60
Energy: V
Blast: 9
Heat: 9
Cold: V
Electricity: V
Acid: 9
Stun: V
Attack Speed: 2.32
To Hit: 0.2
Damage: 510-520
Special 1: KD
Special 2: Dizzy
Ranged Attack: No
Difficulty Level: 32

I post this not to say you are medicore, or look what I did, because I didn't make these. The person who made these has been a BE for as long as they've played the game, and truely loves this class, especially the changes made to it in the big BE boost/CH nerf patch. Your class is now unique among all the other crafting classes, as anybody who collects the same resources, gets the same experimentation tapes, and experiments in the same city, will pretty much come out with the same gun, armor, or food, with minimal differences in the outcome. Your comunity can start with the same exact DNA and other resources, and make drastically diverse pets. You can further diversify by sampling things you have already made and turning them into something new, strengthening some areas while purposly weakening others to maintain the ballance.

You're also probably the only crafting class where you would intentionally NOT use all available experimentation points when there is stuff left to experiment on, because if you did you'd ruin the result. Keep going out there and sampling those bull rancors, but also stop and sample some other lower level creatures if you see that they have some special abilities or protections you could use. Make a bunch of practice creatures. Stop taking orders for a while and just play. Don't experiment everything to the max, see what it does. BE is truely a great profession, and truely an art, but it seems most BE's just want to use the black and white paint with the biggest brush. Try out some of the other colors and maybe a smaller brush, you can make something wonderful and amazing too (and sell it for over half a mil )

Thank god for edit, that looked like crap the first time

I firmly agree with Eaca. We are what I believe a crafting profession should be. What seperates the BE's from the BE's is not in resources, but in knowledge of the profession (well, ok, tissues are still resources). I've seen mediocre BE's, and somedays wonder if some of them really know what they're doing when they hit master. I know I didn't. Your pet is great if you met all the customer's needs and especially if you did it on the spot. If that one didn't buy it someone else will eventually.

Taking a break on orders is also one of the best things a BE can do once in a while. I know I learned so much more making pets when I stopped taking orders, cleaned out my inventory, and went into the wild with my needle. Its so refreshing to crit fail on a creature and not care, because it was just practice anyway. Also it gives you the freedom to do some radical multi generational clones using samples from tons of different creatures. Sure customers may not like the prospect of losing their BE for the length of the sabatical, some may even leave to find other bio-engineers. However, after returning armed with pets that will leave others scratching their heads as to how it was made, customers shouldn't be too hard to find. Hardest part of starting this is being able to say no to the money one could make now, for the money one could make down the road with that Super cl35 combo, or the often talked of, rarely seen Terrible Trio of Cl22/23s. Most of all, have some fun with it, isn't that what this profession is all about?

Well, the real key to making a "good pet" is not tojust use some arbitrary criteria (60% kinetic for example)and saying it's "good" or it's "bad", the real question is whether or not you met your customer's criteria or not.

The place to start is CL. What CL creatures does he/she want? If he is a master CH, and only wants one pet out, then a CL 61 pet is going to be woefully underpowered for him. The fact is, is that no matter how "good" a job of putting a CL 61 pet together, you could have had much higher stats at a higher CL.

But I dunno, let's assume that CL 61 is exactly what your customer wanted for whatever reason.

Next thing is the other stuff. Given that CL level, what does he need? You said high resists and HAM. For a CL 60, I'd say 32 in kinetic isaverage tolowbut 55 for energy is pretty high, so I'd say you met half the criteria there, but missed on the other half. As far as high HAM goes, 11k is pretty respectable for CL 61, but your customer didn't say anything about damage. Perhaps this indicates he doesn't care, so perhaps a lower-damage, higher HAM pet at this CL would have been better for him. This is a tradeoff you are almost always able to make pretty easily.

The third part of making a good pet, is setting your customers expectation level *before* making it. If someone says CL 70 and high resists, you should right away tell them that you are going to be using high end rancor dna and won't be able to do better than 35% kinetic or so. If they know what up front, there will be no surprises later.

Greets,

My first character in SWG was a be/ch. I really had no clue about how to level my non "dna" trees very well back then so I gave up.

Eventually I went back to it and obtained master because its the thing I enjoy most in the game (bio engineer).

I of course am never happy with what I make. I'm in a constant state of experimentation. I currently use this pet for myself... and I list its "stats" only for comparison among my peers.

Its a Dewback skin that is CL32.

The stats are:

10550 Health

9850 Action

7122 Mind

Armor: none

Kinetic: 41

Energy: 41

Blast: 46

Heat: 21

Cold: 68

Electric: 46

Acid: 68

Stun: 13

Attk Speed: 2.07

To Hit 0.3

Damage: 280-290

Special 1: Stunning Strike

Special 2: Strong Poison

Ranged Attk: Yes

I dunno how that stacks up but I'm happy with him for now.

I made this after a day running around because I found out I "could" sample bull/youth rancors. I prefer to mix in youth because they have some resists at 100... regular rancors I do not like at all. Bulls of course for various reason.

I believe the strong poison on the dewback was because I had found a few horned voritors that day. Other than that I really am still trying to get the combination part down.

Glad to see so much discussion.

Not a mediocre BE. Not a mediocre pet. You would be served by a solid business practice:

Set clear expectations. This goes for the stats as well as the price. You can learn what's possible here on the boards. As far as pricing goes, I recommend developing a standardized pricing system based on whatever your galaxy economy will support. Here's what I use:

1cr/HAM point

10,000 for armor

100cr per resist point

5,000 for most special attacks (10,000 for strong poison or strong disease)

10,000 for ranged attacks

200cr per damage point

So, according to this formula, I would have charged the following for your graul:

32,000 for HAM

10,000 for armor

34,000 for resists

10,000 for damage

5,000 for special attack

for a total of 91,000cr (roughly)

Now, these figures need to be agreed upon with the buyer before you build. If the buyer wanted higher kinetic resists, he has the option of buying what you came up with or saying no and waiting for you to try again. The buyer doesn't get sticker shock, and they get exactly what they want (that's the luxury of a custom order).

Also, most of the creature handlers out there are becoming pretty savvy. Many of my clients have specialized pets for PvE hunting, and others for PvP (PvP creatures usually have a higher array of resists, especially to energy). Also, it helps to talk about any vulnerabilities they'll accept (which makes it easier for us to manage the CL and the DNA requirements).

Best wishes,

Dosaik,

IMHO, you pet is great

However, I consider myself a "roleplaying" MBE and MCH.

What that means to me is I DO NOT make high level creatures in HIGH LEVEL skins that max out HAM/RES at the cost of To-Hit and Damage just so I can cater to a bunch of 12yrs and powergamers who want to have the most "mathematically" power creature.

Maybe it's because I'm also a CH and have dedicated myself to not only making my pets but using them.. Sure SWG is just a game but if I wanted to get all mathematical I would take another math course in college.

I don't understand why some people reduce this game to numbers.

Your creature has damnn good attack speed and To-Hit with armor, good res for PvE and PvP (although only newbies and cruel CH use pets in PvP), and nice ham.

You might not find a good market for "him", unfortunately, in the larger SWG community due to people only wanting the most "mathematically" powerful creature, BUT if you want to market yourself to RP CH you should have no problem selling a creature such as this.
