So i've tried to get close to all the highend rancors to get their DNA... but they always agro me, or detect my masked scent... (i have exploration 4). Anyone have any help about how to get their DNA w/o having to have a TKM and doctor with you?

You may want to look towards getting master scout or otherwise getting some clothes to add another +25 to mask scent. Ive got ranger and no combat skills whatsoever and this is the way i solo it

upon locating a spawn, i waypoint it (Why? because when i die, and idie lots,i can easily find the nest again

Mask Scent

Stay 60-70m out

Store the bike (time to go to work). Although some people do this on a bike, i enjoy the intensity. yes im a sick

Prone

Crawl up to targets (This is very important. walking or running to them breaks your scent very very easily)

Where mask scent fails, freeze and observe their movements. after 18secs, re-apply mask scent

If they aggro you and you have burst run, flee in opposite direction to save the nest from going crazy. loose the aggro, mask scent and re-approach nest.

Else, run towards the nest and cause a frenzy amongst them to loose the aggressor to ensure your escape. take pot shots at each one so you have a decent stack of meat to collect later. wait till the fighting stops and start again. keep mask scent going all this while. Sit to stop bleeds if you have no medic skills.

Once in proximity to all the MRs (crawling ard their toes), i sample them one at a time. if the sample fails, i prone and crawl up to the next one and sample it to give the one before time to breatheo. This works alot for me in avoiding aggro and i get more sampling opportunities in. There are of course times when i get a aggro with or without mask scent breaking but i normally come away with at least 1 or 2 samples. Some days i can be repeating this for hours and maybe get only 1 sample, but that normally only occurs when their HAM range is all in the high 13k-14k numbers. MRs with those stats flip out very very easily.

Some say im mad, but i think its alot of fun and just another part of the job. Hope this helps

i would recommend buying a mediocre compsite armour suit (about 50% for 200-300k) and then make an "wear armour" macro so you easily can change once youve started to take an DNA sample. You dont wanna wear the armour before you started sampling since the HAM cost increases greatly. Dont know if this is common among BE's but i like it this way.
