I am 3/3/4/3 BE

I have been trying to sample these the last 2 days without ONE successful dna sample to show for it. Is it for MBE's only? I am wearing Masked scent jacket , pants , bandolier. I am MAsked also. I can get up close and make 3-4 attempts before they aggro..but ALWAYS unsuccessful. Enraged RAncors the same ....

Any advise?

yes, mutant rancors are the highest lvl creatures BE's can sample (afaik) and are only for master BE's

The CL of enraged rancors is too high, even for master BE

And let it be also said that even though we can sample mutant rancors... doesnt mean we are always successful. Most of the time it will agro us or near by mobs. I have found that other animals give better results and are easier to sample from. Which animal you ask? Well thats part of the fun... learning on your own =)

There are lots of mutant rancors east/southeast of the merchant outpost. When you find them they are usually in groups of 4-5. Try to find 2 that are sperate but dont matter if cant. Dont try to walk up to em with mask scent...its pointless. Ride you speeder bike up to one and get agro. Then ride towards the other ones and circle em. Within a min. or so one of the mutants will use an AOE attack and then the rancors will start fighting each other. At this point peace out and stand under the rancors that are fighting watching the health of both. Might want to have some stims handy in case you get hit by the AOE. After one dies stand under the rancor that won. Usually they dont notice you for a long time and you get about 4-6 times to sample. You can usually get 1-2 dna samples ....then the creature dies because he was already near death from fighting the other mutant rancor. I got about 12 samples in about an hour and a half the other night doing this. And dont use mask scent while you are standing under them...it will just break and you will be attacked.

well when I was not a Master and had a 4 in DNA sampling I could sample mutant rancors my chances was slim but 1 out of every 20 trys I did get a sample. When I mastered it increased greatly.

Don't know if this is a bur or not but i have often experienced tha if ur scent is broken and u dont get attacked... and manages to keep a smal distance.... And u mask again when u are alowed to.. The scent does not break again.. U can still get agro ofcause.

There is a much easier way to sample them besides waiting for them to kill each other and have one left.

Just get aggro and train one away from the group. Once you get far enough away and peaced out, get off bike, re-mask scent, ride up quickly behind the Mutant and sample a few times as he walks back to the others.

There appears to be a certain amount of grace time were they won't detect you coming up from behind, so you can do it very quickly and get 3 samples off before you get close to the other Mutants.

Yes I noticed some of this last night... haven't had master long and wanted to see what I could sample... I didn't know that Enraged Rancors were too high (didn't read enough here first). Anyway when apporach a enraged I have tier 4 explore and BE enchance to mask/camo. Rarely I could pass one detect got around 480 scout xp per success. But when I would get close I would get detected. I found if the Enraged didn't attack I could remask and walk up and try and sampe... which of course could not succeed. But whether by design or a game issue that works.

If I got detected later that night ... I went to endor... I would just remask if not attack and not even get another mask related message. Only aggro from then on would be from sampling anger.

Just what I've noticed.

Or... (and this is a long way of doing it) master the Ranger profession and camo yourself along with wearingsome +camo clothes. Getting another Master Ranger to camo you isn't good enough, you won't have the camoflauge skill mod high enough to keep it from continually breaking. I can ride my speeder through the whole pack of them and not usually get aggroed. If I walk or even run on foot, I almost never get aggro. I get about 10-15 samples in anhour.

Look around the Dathomir Sarlacc for packs of mutant rancors.

There is also that Mutant Rancor cave ......lots of em...If you get past the ancient enraged bull rancor guarding entrance...-4230 -2085....clone..Good luck(got 7 in an hour,,just master BE and4-3-3-4 CH)

They will chase you for days...lol
