Thread: Why do we do this to our customers?

I was at the Imp Outpost on Dant yesterday stocking a vendor when a guy asks me if I can create him a pet like this. He sends a trade request and I check out the stats:

CL6

9.8k Health

7.6k Action

6.4k Mind

Damage 150-160

54% Kin resist (among others)

I told him that, that was a very nice pet, but next patch it will be invalid. He told me to f-off cause he just paid 2 mil for it two days ago and that I was wrong. I told him to read all the BE boards and he'll know for sure. He said the MBE who sold it to him told him it was legal and that it was pre-nerf (so it will stay, like the weapons and be able to be used), but it couldn't be duplicated. I told him he was suckered and that the average health for Non-CH pets is between 3k and 4k (see a couple at 5k, but that's pushing it). Needless to say he was pretty pissed and I got a customer plus all his friends...so why are the BEs out there doing this to the clients? That is ridiculous, selling a invalid pet to someone for 2 mil when they can only use it for another week, THAT's BS!!!

If only customers would listen.

I would guess that the BE might have told him it was invalid and he was too exited to notice or did not understand.

Or possibly the BE did not know that these pets would be invalid, I was not coming to these forums much after the big BE patch and I had no idea tha I was making invalid pets (was just using a set of Tybis DNA to get regular 4-8k Ham and 10% resists to all on a L9 pet) just luckly I only gave them away to guild mates or I could understand some customers annoyance (but then again the 20-40k I would have charged would not be qutie as annoying as the 2mil annoyance you are talking of).

If the BE did not know, its hardly his fault.

I think there are far more unscrupulous BEs than anyone would want to believe. I constantly see pets being sold for exhorberent prices on Ahazi. I saw a vendor with pretty subpar CL 30, 40 and 50s all priced at 250k each, lol.

I also know of a couple BEs on Ahazi that were told constantly that the pets they were selling were going to be nerfed and were invalid. Yet they kept making them and selling them for high prices anyways. Some BEs really are just out to make the quick $$$ and they really don't care about their fellow players(customers).

Some of the BE vendors I've seen sicken me to be honest. Some people don't care to learn the class, they just want to turn out junk and make as much $$ as they can.

I would give a good deal for the loc of a GOOD BE shop on Ahzi. I have yet to see one.

Spome BE still do not think or care of pets like this being wrong. If they can make it it must be good. Not everybody reads the boards so no clue that there is a issue. Those that think they got this supper pet will find out soon enough then its there problem for not listing to other then some arse hole just making the creds. I will be so glad when the patch comes in to fix the fix and this finnaly be over with once and for all. Good, bad or indifferent but it will be over with. (dang well better be)

I just hope they do have it thatcan't make bad pets and not that can make them but have to wait to call them to know. That would just have me throw up my hands and walk away.

I think the problem is that no changes are documented for BE pets for the upcoming publish - even reading these boards I was confused as to the problem - I asked and someon told me that more fixed were being made to invalid pet stats but not everyone reads the profession forums, there is nothing in the patch notes so how are we to know?
Even knowing that changes are being made we dont know what will be valid - for all we know the 4k/3k/2k build with 10% kinetic resists we've all been making could be deemed invalid on thursday.

Stupid question... are you sure this pet was full grown? Also, I've noticed some other wierdness when using "examine" on BE'ed pets with regards to CL. This may have in fact been much higher CL then that.

It wasn't full grown at the time it was a CL 3 when I saw it in the trade box...I was going by all the max numbers on the right hand side, not the left numbers.

Personally, I dont charge based on CL i charge based on Stats Meaning that a CL 9 pet with 10k ham and AR 1n and 510-550 dmg is going to go for the same price as a CL 70 pet with 10k ham AR 1 and 510-550 dmg, no where in my priceing formula do i ever take the cl of the clone, SO, pending changes the price will still be the same reguardless of the CL the pet actually is since im selling for the stats and not the CL.

After Thursday things will hopefully be back to normal. It was good to see the number of BEs fall back to their normal levels when they did the earlier, ill-fated correction to this problem. The number of players ready to latch on to whatever profession is most uber (which in many cases means most exploitable) is just ridiculous...
