Thread: Just a logic problem...
I read Tal-N's observation on lowering CL while maintaining a high HAM score. This lead me to question from this 6th gen High HAM Low CL creature... "Could the HAM be experimented up even further therefore raising the CL but ending with a creature with say 20k HAM usable only by CH?" If so then you could theoretically yo-yo the CL and get insane HAM into a Low CL pet. Provided I read Tal-N's calculations correctly... "Is this the end result of inbreeding?" Or is there a natural cap on HAM because we can not sample from 20k HAM creatures? Just trying to understand the logic of this system.

The HAM is effected by the lowering of the CL. Since the calculations for the CL are based mainly on the DPS (damage per second) though you'll find that the HAM isn't dropping as much as it should in comparason to the CL rating. Because the HAM reduction that is in place is a point value rather thana percentage it means the high CL dna you use the less is lost by the time you hit the lower CL ratings. You counter much of that loss with experimentation however the loss is always present so you will not find all HAM pools rising higher than they were at the last generation, the HAM loss is very much a linear line.
Thanks for the quick response Tal-N. So the drop in HAM is on a point scale not linear to the drop in CL... but what of the second part? Once you drop the CL with a High HAM can HAM alone be experimented beyond the starting point naturally raising CL. The reason I ask, most Creature Handlers are looking meat shields and if they could get a 20k HAM creature in thelevel 40-50 rangethere is definitely a market. The last question is if this can happen could this non-linear approach be done again to drop CL and have say a 15k HAM Low CL creature? This is all just speculation for me since I'm at an insufficient level to try this on my own.

Do you know what linear means? It means only one way.. in this case it's a one way reduction when you resample. Since there isn't anything we can sample from which is above 13k HAM then you cannot exceed that with inbreeding. Typically what you'll find is that you'll lose around 5 to 10 CL ratings with each generation at the higher end and then things get slower towards CL15. You typically lose around 500-1000 points to the HAMs as you boost them meaning that it's possible to get to CL10 and still keep around 10k of HAM after losing the 3000 from the generations. You cannot however increase above that like your thinking.
