Thread: Max sampling?
Got a question for you guys...
I've seen some thing about a max CL that is able to be sampled from, but after wading through pages and pages of posts, I'm still a bit unsure about it. Here's the quick story...
Right now, I'm 2-2-4-3 BE. I'vemade a couple nice CL21-23 Gurrcats with decent resistances and about 9K health. Of couse, being a BE, I get the "Can you make me a Kimo" question quite a bit. I've told people that only Masters can make Kimos, but I'd be happy to make them the pest pet I can the time. I've sold a handful of Gurrcats to my guild mates. Anyway...getting back on track... We've got a newbie Holo-BE in our guild, and for whatever reason, he decided he'd try to sample Kimos. He was asking about this in Guild Chat, because he said that he hasn't been able to get a sample yet, and he keeps getting killed trying. I replied back that the big Kimos were too high level of a creature, and couldn't be sampled from. Another guild member replied that yes, Kimos can be sampled from, and that he just paid 1 million credits for a BE Kimo made from ACTUAL KIMO DNA. As if, somehow the actual Kimo DNA will make a Kimo better than what others have been making by mixing Rancor, bark mite queen, frenzied graul, etc.
So... my question is... Can Kimos successfully be sampled from or did my guildmate get swindled? I didn't ask him about stats or who sold it to him. Since I haven't seen any posts on here about anyone using Kimo DNA sampled from wild Kimos, I thought that it wasn't possible to do, and if so, is it only some crazy perceived advantage that this BE Kimo is somehow 'better' because it was made with 'real' wild Kimo DNA?
I'm pretty sure I know the answers already, but I wanted to ask the real experts.
Thanks!

The max CL we can sample from is 75. I don't know if there are any Kimo under CL75 in the wild other than the hatchlings. Now if somebody made a CL70 Kimogila (or any Kimogila) we can sample our own creations, which results in a new generation of that DNA from the clone we sampled from.
If somebody has Kimo DNA (from the wild) its most likely Pre-patch and old.
Thats what I was thinking....
We may have to start putting labels on our pets... "Made from actual WILD and not that recycled samplings those "other" Bioengineers use.
There are some folks that just dont listen to what they are told by folks that do this in game. "Someone" told them something and for the life of them... this other person, who they dont know, tells them XYZ... no matter what you say... you're wrong.
If it makes them happier.. let them think it was made with real WILD kimogila dna... everyone needs a dream.

I just wanted a confirmation about not being able to sample wild Kimos. Now, I want to find out who ripped off my guildmate for a million credits by telling them that the BE pet was made from 'real' aka 'wild' Kimo DNA. And then I need to have a talk with my guildmate about this bridge that I have for sale...
I'm glad to know that I was in the right when we got into a debate in GuildChat about whether or not sampling of wild Kimos was possible. I told our Holo-BE that it wasn't, and the million-credit-spender was saying yes, it can, and then a couple others chimed in saying yes, it can be done, because they know of people selling pets made with Kimo DNA samples. Of course, none of them are BE, so they'll believe what a Master BE tells them even if he's blantantly lying about where the DNA came from.

People like that make me sick, we've already got too many misconceptions about how "easy" it is to get a clone with x amount of HAM, x specials and x damage...I spent about 2 hours yesterday going over stuff with a guildy who was interested and letting him know how things work, he was shocked, and then he said if he had to go through the same things to do weaponsmithing(he's a master) he's give it up in a heartbeat lol...
As I just said in another thread, imagine if a weaponsmith had to harvest all of his resources by hand, couldn't use a factory, and could only sell 1 out of every 10-15 weapons he made. The rest are wasted time and materials.

It's theoretically possible that your guildmate bought the genuine article. But only if the DNA used to create the Kimo was harvested before we were limited to sampling from CL75 and lower. And even then, the bio-engineer would have had to offset the too-high-to-tame CL of the wild Kimo DNA with something silly like gubber or gnort DNA.
I personally wouldn't find something like that worth 1M credits, though, even if it is the real thing. But that's just me. I'll never understand why anyone wants one of those things in the first place.
