can't sample DNA.
edit: apparently the elite mobs that were previously DNA-donor-certified are still working. the NEW elite trophy mob static spawns (murra blanca and painted spat, on talus) are not valid targets for DNA sampling. the baneback spider is CL80, so we can skip that one.

edit: some of this still applies...
which makes ArthurDent's fanfest report make more sense:
of course, it still doesn't completely make sense... the 'boss spawns' with names in a different color (gold) are, pretty obviously, 'elite mobs', and have seen several UI 'tags' to denote their special status. currently, elite mobs have brackets around their names when targetted. previously, they had a 'notch' in their /con shield.
DNA samples from elite mobs were not 'unusable'... in fact, they went some way towards addressing the difficulty of 'making level 70 pets with only access to level 75 DNA'.
the reference to 'special creatures' on kashyyyk seems odd, since elite mobs all over the galaxy (special, and rare) have 'special characteristics'... the female narglatch on naboo fits this description perfectly.
however, the point of all this echoes the first post in this thread: can't sample DNA from elite mobs (edit: TROPHY MOBS ONLY)... at least, not on the elite mobs I've run across since p18 went Live (edit: CAN sample DNA from the 'old elites').
which makes ArthurDent's fanfest report make more sense:
Keldarin was asked about the sampling cap. He said: "it hasn't changed, and I believe it is 75". He added the he understands that it will be very challenging to make level 70 pets with only access to level 75 dna. He was asked whether or not mission spawn dna samples would reflect the stats of the creature at it's "natural" level or whether it would reflect the level of the mission spawn. He responded that it would be reflective of the mission spawn (this we already knew). He was asked about some creatures that have health in particular that would seem to be way above the range of what you'd expect for creatures of that level (no specifics were given unfortunately). He responded that such creatures were specifically created to be "boss spawns" and were created specifically to be taken down by groups. So in other words, a level 70 group takes on a some quest or mission or whatever, and they may encounter "level 70" creatures that have far more health than typical level 70 animals, and that dna sampling such animals will likely give you dna samples that are not usable. Someone asked how people can identify such creatures and he said their names appear in a different color (gold?) when you click on them (something like that).
He also mentioned that there were some special creatures added to planet K that were very rare but that had some special characteristics (he mentioned a different ratio of health to damage, or something like that).

Is there a complete list of elite mobs somewhere?
Narglatches and Plains Hunters on Naboo are 'elite' and I have taken DNA samples from both of them. What other elites are out there?

Add Swamp Stalker, Narglatch Guardian and Narglatch Hunter to the Naboo elite list. You are able to sample them with no problem.

Verified on this! I was able to sample Narglatch DNA with little or no problem. They're DNA has excellent health but is a bit weak in the armor department. The great part is that they're only level 25-26!
