A hunter on Kauri can often ask between 15-30 cpu for high quality meat. In schematics where I would once use meat as "Creature Food", I now use Milk. It takes me around 2-3 hours to gather 20k milk, enough to make a full run of medium or heavy chef nutrient additives. Milk is so easy to get, and in most cases the stats will only make a 2-4 %point difference in the final product, unnoticeable by most peoples standards, and you just saved yourself paying 300-600k for that 20k of meat. Just a tip for the struggling BEs, and the shrewd BEs (not unlike myself)

By the way, if you sell your schematics, make sure youre not cheating yourself! (had to put that in there)

I tend to find no problem harvesting enough meat (myself) for full factory runs of nutrient supplements, but this isn't a bad idea. I use meat ONLY in the slot that requires meat, flora in the flora only one, and then whatever's convenient and apropriately statted for the first.
For supplements at least. For the +effectiveness supplements, that means 20k meat is a full factory run for medium or heavies, if I'm remembering the numbers right. 20k of meat from one resource shift is trivial to get.

That said... now that I think about it, most BEs without combat capacity will be happier milking a spawn (literally!) than trying to beat the crap down for meat, so using the milk for the creature food slot instead of ANY meat requirement is a good boon. Carry on. =) Good thought. 80-120 milk per piket, with no combat required or possible, beats 40 meat per piket any day.

Edit: Don't forget, if you get more than about 150m out from a nest and wait a bit, it will often despawn unless there's some other PC nearby. When it does, if you come back to it, and the creatures respawn, you can milk 'em again and re-search the nest for eggs.
This means take two missions from a terminal in the same direction. usually they'll be far enough from each other that you can go to one, search and milk, go to the other, search and milk, return to the first, etc etc, without killing a single critter.

I dearly love that (unlike meat) I can get milk AND samples from the same critters (depending on the critter).

Unfortunately they just nerfed the amounts of milk you get. I've been using the ping-ping technique for a couple weeks, and what used to be 80-120 is now more like 50-90. It's still better than meat though, and with some berries you can grind with multisacharride pentamate, which is much faster than Broad-Spectrum Nutrients.

If you have the fighting ability why not milk the creatures and then beat them down and harvest the meat?

best way to do this is to get two missions and run between them. You can do it three times then the lair disappears. Not are great deal of fun, but you can gaurantee you find the critter you're looking for.

I am using that same method to grind BE. Since they will not let us harvest the meat off of our sampled critters, I milk them then sample then craft as I go. Still, grinding the last couple boxes is feeling like the biggest time sink ever (maybe I am just burned out).

If the current Dant milk was better quality, I would do as you do and go harvest the heck out of it. Good way to combat the gougers DarkJurai.
