This is gonna be kinda a wierd post, I think, because I'm not really sure how to word it. I remember when I was trying to go up the BE ladder, comming here and reading posts just to learn how to do stuff. Well, on several occasions when people were talking about 2nd gen experiments and talking about raising kinetic resists on them. Almost always people were suggesting the use of Bark Mite Burrowers and Bark mite Burrower Queens.

I was out sticking things with my needles last night on Endor andsaw several Merek Harvesters and decided to sample them because they have 75% kinetic resist, low resists in other areas and I think 2 or 3 vulnerablities. Then I finally ran into the BMB and BMB queen. They had lower kinetic resist, but the queen had high resists in other areas like cold and maybe heat. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a sample after 10 tries she turned on me. like an idiot, I tried to fight her since she was spitting at me. I wasn't paying attention to my health bar and she killed me. Anyway, I went to swgcreatures.com and saw that both the merek harvester and bark mite burrower queen are very close in levels and this brought a question to mind. Why would someone choose a bark mite burrower queen over a merek harvester?

I guess maybe if you had a special order for particular resists, but as a just in general making pets kind of thing, the Merek Harvester looks to be a much more useful thing to sample. It looks to me as though the MH is much better to use to raise the kinetic resist (even though it's capped at 60) and to lower the CL in the 2nd gen experiments because the resists are so much lower. However, I could be wrong...

It just really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Generally you are trying to do one of two things, and depending on which one you are trying to do, the choice of which dna to use becomes fairly obvious. You are either trying to create a pet with high kinetic and as much other vulnerabilities as possible to keep the CL down, or you are trying to create a pet with as many high resists as possible, and limit vulnerabilities. Most CH's I've dealt with want the former in creatures in the CL 12-30 range, and want the latter in anything above CL 40 or so. In that middle range, CL 30-40 or so, it's kind of a 50-50 type of thing.

Oh, well, that does make sense. Never really thought of it that way. I just kinda figured since the most discussion that was going on was for high kinetic resist a month or so ago, that that was the general trend in pet making. I was planning on not really making anything over level 35 unless special ordered so I guess I'd fall into that 50/50 range. I see that if you have a high level pet and you want to keep it high that you would use the BMBQ DNA. Makes total sense... guess I wasn't thinking...

The other reason is that mereks are vulnerable in energy. If there is one special besides kinetic you want, it is energy. In those pets, the bark mites would be more desirable.

If you are trying to make several vulnerabilities, a combination of the two is great because they both have high kinetic and you can get three vulnerabilities between the two.
