Hi guys. I've been a master CH since the game first came out. I just started playing again after a 6month break. I've come back to find that all my wild pets now suck and I'm gonna need BE creations to really have the kind of pets I'm looking for. I figured, why pay someone else when I can do it myself? I'll just surrender some skills and have at it- pistoleer sucks anyway.

Soooo I've read nearly all of the FAQ and have a decent idea of what lies ahead. I've got a DE buddy makin me storage and harvesting droids and I'm setting up the macros.

I'd just like some general pointers and things to watch out for from more experienced BE's.

I'm excited about making my own pets. The most fun in the game for me was always sneaking up to lairs for the tame. Well I guess it's just going to have to be sneaking up to lairs for the DNA now.

Some specific questions I have: Should I forgo all combat skills to keep master scout and maybe get ranger (IE tracking)?? or is exp4 with mask scent enhancing clothes enough? Is it hard to find the pets you're looking for with out track? I know that was one of my biggest frustrations as a CH but that's a LOT of skill points for just one perk.

How many of you have master scout and/or some ranger tracking skills?

Thanks in advance. I think this is gonna be a fun prof (yes I know a lot of the grind is going to be boring and buggy) and nancy seems like the BE equivalent of vert. (That is to say: one hell of a correspondant)

It depends, do you want to fight at all? I kept master pistoleer myself, as I didn't find master scout or rangernecessary to sampling critters.

It works fine for me, I've managed to get 9 mutant rancor samples in about 2 hours on average with only exploration IV - a word of advice though, don't try this with only exploration II, it's bad, bad idea...

Not terribly. Most creatures you can get missions for, and for those you can't, more often than not, there are static spawn locations you can go to find them. Of course until I found out most of these locations I was kinda lost and stumbling in the dark trying to find the creatures.

I had no combat skills for quite awhile, but got bored, with the right specials your pets as a MCH can take out anything under lvl 80 or MOB's in PVE... PVP is very different. I have only the required scout skills for MCH/MBE, but without any combat your additional mask scent bonus and if you get more terrain negotion, it would be better. I just use mask scent +25 clothes and a brandy and can sample MR's or whatever, NP.

Tips: Endor is lots of fun for MBE.

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

I am a master CH/BE with Ranger Tracking III. The skills work quite well together.

I can see CL and both specials which helps immensely with knowing if I want to sample and/or tame a creature type. Maskscent is better and recharges faster if broken than any non-master.

For combat I made myself a pair of armored cats with 50-ish kinetic and 40-ish energy resits. One has stun/intimidate and the other dizzy/crippling strike. With these two I can take down any solo creature under level 60 with hardly any damage to them. With groups they will not fare as well, but by cycling targets to keep states on them they still fare very well.

(As an example, the other day I sent them against a two spawns of flails, 2k-5k HAM NPCs. After 30-40 due to respawns, my cats were down only 1/3 to 1/2 their health, with no assistance from me other than directing them.)

Well I think the biggest thing I'll miss giving up master scout is the creature knowledge. You'd think CH's and BE's would know more about creatures than scouts but that is an oooooold issue.

Anyway, I've never been much into pvp but I'd kinda like to give it a shot. Seems like from what I've been reading even really powerful pets aren't much good except in PVE. I guess I should probably keep as many of my pistol skills as I can. I'll just bite the bullet and give up master scout.

Are pets really as bad as they say in PvP? I'd think a good pet with nasty specials and knockdown would be quite formidable but I've been out of the game for 6 months so I guess I'm out of the loop.

If you can get the specials to stick then they will help. But most PVPers will go after the pet owner first and the pets do not get the 75% PVP reduction that the players do. So they don't last long.

ah yes... plague strike

/shudder

i got hit in the action pool with that while doing some sampling. Had to call it a day there. It's really too bad BE pets can't have the aoe or plague strike-like abilities.

I think I remember that....well at least they don't get the 75% damage reduction on their attacks. Too bad we can't get the disease ancient bull rancors use....omg.... I'll never forget me going after my first wild rancor and aggroing one of those. I died in 5 seconds from it and when I cloned I had ONE hitpoint. my whole health bar was black.
