Only a Scout+ with Mask Scent and upwards can get it. It appears as a radial option on females of the species. It takes about 15 seconds to milk an animal and you have to stay withing ~10m of it the whole time. The amount of milk you get depends on the species. The bigger the animal the bigger the teats, apparantely. There are 2 kinds of milk, wild and domesticated.

Milking ranks right up there withpaint drying on the excitement scale.

It's not something you can survey for or get with a harvester. It's gotten from creatures through a "Gather Milk" command on the radial menu when you have a live creature targeted.

You have to have some way to hide from the creature while you're doing it, which means either Mask scent (requiring you to get Exploration II in Scout) or camouflage (a ranger skill that they can apply to other players).

After picking the command, you have to stay close to the creature for 20-25 seconds before getting the milk. The amount you get doesn't seem to be affected by any Scout creature harvesting skills. It mainly seems determined by the size of the creature you're milking. I got 150 units from milking one Faamba, but only 10 or so fora gnort.

If you have the scout skills and want to gather your own, the best method I've found is to go to Dantooine and get two Piket missions 500m from each other. Piket's don't attack you (unless you attack first), so you can safely milk them. When you suck the animals at the first lair dry (you can only milk a given creature once), go to the second one and milk the Pikets there. Then go back to the first lair, the creatures basically "unspawn" when you get far enough away and respawn when you come back, so you can remilk them.

Oh, and not all creatures are milkable. If it looks like a mammal, you can give it a try (Pekos, dewbacks, nunas aren't, but kaadu are oddly enough). Anything named something male-like ("bull rancor", "stag ikopi", etc) won't be either. You can search for creatures that drop domesticated or wild milk using the search feature at www.swgcreatures.com.

And if milking becomes too boring, try it with aggro creatures like Rogue Faambas or plains cats. Nothing like hoping your mask scent doesn't break while "tickling" a red-con creature. Not too efficient for gathering purposes, though.

Saw a few post about the warping when milking. I just found out that you don't need to milk. If you kill the creature and type in /harvest milk you can just harvest it off the corpse, though it will prevent harvesting bones/hides/meat.
Don't know if it's been said before, but I thought i'd share my knowledge.

Well known fact. There's a bug which allows you to milk the creature and then kill/harvest it for milk as well. Well, I'm pretty sure its a bug. Which means doing it is exploiting... which means I don't do it and would prefer if people would respect honor and the rules by not doing it either.

I've found rangers to be some of the most honest and good people in SWG... don't ruin it.

It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature.

I really hope this is meant sarcastically. Because if its not, you're not funny. Justification can be used to make anything okay.

Lest my Humor-o-Meter has malfunctioned, I believe that was intended as "humor", not sarcasm.
