Thread: Pet Growth

Hmm. I guess I disagree and agree.

I found it incredibly annoying as I was gaining CH skills to have to wait for my pet to grow. By the time I tamed a pet, waited for it to fully grow, and was ready to use it, I'd usually gained another skillbox that would let me use a better pet. With my feeble skills, I was also forced to choose which of my pets to delete to make room for the new pets that I wouldn't be able to use for a week, but that gets into the whole "pet storage" issue.

How would things be though, if pets grew faster? It wouldn't be as realistic and would give CH's access to the grown version faster. The tradeoff would have to be something like making pets decay (vitality) faster I'd think to allow for that.

I do like the idea of a BE enhanced injection or food to speed growth. I guess I just think we would have to trade that "pro" with a "con" to maintain balance.

I like selling Banthas as mounts in Theed for profit. However what I do not like, and find annoying, is that I have to wait for it to grow. I know it is a natural process, but it is very annoying, as I have to wait before I can mount them. Maybe there can be something released from Bio Engineers, maybe to speed up the process? Playing with 4-5 Banthas ALL DAY isn't in my schedule. If there are any quick tips to speed up growth, what would they be? Also would you like for pets to not grow from BEs to make things quicker and easier, or stay with BE Pets growing from the Deed? Personally, I like pets from the wild growing, but waiting for BE Banthas to grow then mount is really annoying.

I have to say that pets growing is only a natural thing and shouldn't by any account be taken out. It gives you that much more of an attachment (sp?) to your pet watching it as it progessively grows and gets stronger. Actually, I think it's my favorite part of CH now that pets are so weak. I take screenshots whenever I notice they have grown and every once in a while after they are full grown I go watch those screenshots again and smile remembering my pet's first days with me.

With that being said, maybe they could be a way for BE to make the pet grow themselves before selling it to a ch. That way when a ch would buy it, the pet would already be an adult, having grown while in the BE possession. The whole barn, stable, etc. idea would fit well into this since a BE could drop a newly made pet there and wait for it to be fully grown before selling it. Full grown pets would sell fora little more than babies, etc.

Just my opinion/idea...

they should make it for a master BE has the option to spend exp points in the creation into the growth speed of the animal ...

that is the only thing i would consider ok on the subject ... for my wild pets i dont mind them growing up ... yes it is harder at first

but the first stages of a CH's life .. xp is quicker gained by taming and teaching animals then by fighting with them ... while doing

that a pet or two can be full grown just waiting to be called out to duity ....

Okay, I've heard that the server checks twice a day (about every 12 hours) to see if you've logged in, and if you have, your pets grow. This raises two questions.

1. I was gone for a week, and my baby zucca boar grew into an adult (from 1 to 10). I logged in a grand total of once before I left for a week, and when I came back he was fully grown. Is there a timeer on how fast they grow to adulthood?

2. After a pet achieves his maximum normal growth, how/when/how fast does he grow afterwards? I've seen pets that are higher levels than they should be, and the manuals and guides mention this, but does anyone know how it works? For example, if I log in twice a day (at least) how long will it take my 2.5 week old fully grown cu pa (11/11) to get bigger?

Hey all,

I was curious, I just got some new small pets (BE pets), and I was curious how long it takes for them to grow up? Is there a way to speed up the growth (food from a chef perhaps?)

Thanks

Itll take roughly a week.

Calling them once a day seems to speed up the process but beyond that there isnt really much you can do.

Darn, I was afraid of that, that's fine though, I have other pets I can use until they grow up.

Thanks for the reply

If you have the time you can spead it up a little, Pets will grow in two cycles daily if you are logged on at the right times. If not and you log on once a day expect a daily growth cycle of one.

from personal experience I can say logging in at 6am eastern time for about 10 minutes or so and then logging in the afternoon I would notice pet grew. I wouldlog off around 11pm-12am. next morning I would see my pets grow again and so on.

they say its a 12hr cycle, its just a matter of learning what times to login and out for your time zone.

Im a new Creature handler, and as such have alot to learn about the class

With that said, i would like to know exactly how creatures age. I read in some of the faqs and guides that creatures age quicker outside than in our datapads - but how does that work? I've noticed that my creatures age about 1 CL every 24 hours or so when they are in the datapad... How much faster would they age if they were outside?

Does your pet need to be doing something in order for it to age faster? Is it tied to the amount of CH xp you gain while your pet is out? Or can you pet just stand there and do nothing?

I have a 2(30) pet in my datapad... i would love to get to use my pet at level 30... Will i have to wait a month for it to age? anyone has any tips???
