c'mon marlon you don't have to buff to hunt a gps..the only thing on the planet that can hurt you is lord nyax himself..and he stays in his hole

Track is pretty much worthless for locating babies. It's only good in areas that are highly populated with spawns of creatures. Most of the time when you are out looking for rares, you are in areas that noone else really runs around at, so the area is not loaded on the server, which means nothing will show up on track. I bought a second account so that I could get track while scouting, along with some other things, only to realise later that it was worthless.
It sounds like you have an area already picked out that you scout for your GPS. My suggestion to you is not to drop any skills for points to get track. If you have spare points, go for it, but if not, don't bother. It's not worth it. People told me not to get track but I did anyway, and I wish I hadn't wasted my time. I've found every rare that I've found thus far without tracking. You just have to know the most efficient methods.
Clearing out spawnshelps a little, but with the GPS it's a pretty big area, so I would advise just sticking with scouting for an hour or two every now and then. As long as you have the area mapped out correctly, then you should be ok. My suggestion for combat is not to drop any skills for combat just for the GPS, unless, of course, you have the spare skill points. Clearing out lairs becomes more frustrating than running around. You're better off scouting the GPS spawn area.
IMO, the GPS is the rarest baby in the game (save for the wild dune boar and malignant squil maybe), since the spawn itself is rare, the baby spawn is even rarer, it doesn't have missions, and is only a single spawn creature with no lair. The Bull Rancor may be the rarest baby, but you can get missions for it, which cuts out like 99.9% of the hassle.
6 spawns in a week is a pretty good average, so don't feel like you are getting ripped off. At least you are finding the spawns. There are people that are still looking for the GPS since it came back into the game. Hopefully this was insightful somewhat. Good luck on your hunt.

Try to get the FC down on that 1st gen some, and yes Channel will help a great deal.

immediatly pick up at least 1002 enhance even if you plan on dropping those skills soon after....
then continue to get 0044 saber
after you pick up 1000 healer 1002 enhance 0044 saber
decide on your final template and go bottom heavy...ie
if you decide on 4404 healer 4404 enhance ms...you want 2202 healer 2202 enhance 2244 saber and all novices

So im doing the mining mission where you need to get 250 Silicaceous Asteroid, and I go to one of those asteroids and I get one asteroid to break off. After that I try again and shoot it 100's of times and nothing. Go to another, I get one asteroid then nothing. I got to an iron one and I easily get 3 asteroids but none after that. Im flying a Belbuab 22(grievous' ship) and using the basic mining equipment the guy gives you.

No there is a "paint" on the target, it may be your settings. As for targeting which one, the next thing that I do if there's a bunch with the same name is say the distance from me, sometimes that helps, other times it doesn't. The only thing that I can say find SOMETHING to distinguish the particular enemy. Red hair, bald, etc.

According to this thread, /volleyfire "right now acts as a painting tool (everyone seems glowy circles around the target)"
The group I was in last night never saw the target or glowy circles. I did notice a significant increase in damage to the target, but I've been using a macro to tell the group which target to hit.
Since we were on the avatar last night, I couldn't effectively use the macro because multiple NPCs are called the same thing, Avatar Guard for example. When there are 4 of them on the group, it is hard to tell which one I am referring to. And as I said, no one saw a target at all.
Is this a bug? I have never seen the circles, so I assumed that the "paints the target' part of the description was just another colorful dev term to mean "nothing happens". (You know, like how high tech field bases are supposed to keep creatures out, but never did.)
