Of course I didn't know!! It's implied by the title: "NEWBIE question"!!

"That's the sun, Wedge. It's after dawn."
"Well, it offends me, turn it off."
"It's a hundred thirty, hundred forty million klicks from here."
"Well, go up in your X-wing and shoot it down for me."

A lot from the UK play on the Eclipse server. So if you want to speak to fellow country men then there is the best place. You have people running round with pets called viduka and beckham etc...etc..lol

Your route to whatever totally depends on you. If money makes your world go round become a Artisan and craft Armour & Guns and sell them on in shops & vendors.

If you want to beat up MOBS then take a combat class.

If you want other things to beat up the enemy become a Creature Handler.

In regards to which server is the best to play on, I have little information. I have seen that most servers are now developing a solid community. I too live in Europe and can tell you that the biggest issue is that, more often than not, you will be playing during off-hours -which may or may not be a problem. It's nice to have all the mobs to yourself, but it's disappointing when the friends you make play when you are asleep. I think the European launch will ease this problem.

Now, as for what is the best character/profession to have... The best advice that I can give you is:

1. Pick whatever species you like best (look-wise, stat-wise), it doesn't really matter, it is mostly cosmetics.

2. Before you choose a planet to start on, DO stat migration. What you want is to more or less evenly distribute the points you have among the different attributes (Health, Action, Mind (HAM)). I will explain why below.

3. Choose a starting profession such as artisan for example, that way you get some starting tools which will later can be useful (crafting tools).

4. As soon as you log into the game and are finally in your chosen city, help tutorial to start, follow it if you haven't and once that is finished go find the trainers for all the other professions. Yes, ALL others.

5. Sign up for novice in ALL the other professions you don't have (don't worry, I'll explain later).

6. Start playing!

Basically, the reason why you want to have your HAM stats evenly distributed is that it will allow you to more freely experiment with all the different skills which are available for the different professions.

For example, medics need high Mind, while entertainers need high Action. Combatants for the most part need an even distribution since they use Action for special moves/skills, but their Health bar gets decreases mostly from fighting.

So an even distribution of stats at the beginning will allow you to try everything out successfully and, later on, when you define your character, you can migrate stats as you see fit.

Now, the reason why I told yo to sign up for every profession is simple... as you play more and more you will find that most professions complement each other, and that you will find some skills more useful than others, but you don't know any of this starting out. So it makes sense to try everything at the start, and then focus on what you find more interesting for your character. Remember that you can always surrender skills and get your points back, which in turn you can use for other skills.

This is, in my opinion, the best way to enjoy the game. Many sign up with dreams of becoming he meanest, baddest bounty hunter in the galaxy, only to find out they actually enjoy crafting much more. Some come with money in their minds, thinking crafting, only to find out when they are out surveying that they enjoy exploring much more, so they switch to scouts and eventually become rangers.

So, there is a lot of experimentation you can do at the beginning, which will later allow you more easily define your character.

Hope this helps...

I agree, choosing all the starting professions is not as crazy as it probably sounds. However,I would only choose either marksmen OR brawler. Pick one way to fight and get better atthat method. While the combo would allow you to open up shooting and finish uphacking I think you would be better served just being really good at one or the other.

It doesn't work. Just out of curiousity, back about a week after the boards first came up, I checked my profile and noticed that my average rating was 2.4. I checked all my posts (at the time there was only about eight or so), and none of them were rated lower than a 4. So where did the 2.4 come from?

Irecently fixed my sig and checked it again, and itstill says my average rating is 2.4 (although at this point it probably really is).

I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are actually people on some of the forums (haven't seen it on this one really), who just 1-star every single post in a thread, regardless of the content.

People are weird like that.
