I had the same problem with my lesser bol and raised a ticket on it last night. The CSR response said that it was a problem and that they were working hard to resolve it and to wait for a fix in a future patch update. They didn't say when that would be out so don't hold your breath......

I think we should just floodthem with /bug, hopefully this will help to get it in as a hotfix.

When your pet is ready to be trained as a mount, the option will appear in your "Teach" tab on the target/radial. Your kaadu is not old enough if you just tamed it. I believe Mountable Pets need to be at least halfway or more to their Max CL before you can train it as a mount.

Kaadus and Carrion Spats are the fastest mounts, but also have lowest HAM. Brackasets can take more damage, but aren't nearly as fast. BE's can make mountable pets with killer stats and CL way beyond their wild counterparts. You can also use the 'Gallop' command to give your mount a temporary burst of speed, much like 'Burst Run'.

As far as combat goes, you can use your weapon while riding a mount, but you cannot use any special attacks, such as 'Overcharge Shot' or 'Bleed Shot', etc. (Hopefully this will change in future updates) With the addition of Vehicles, mounts seem all but a novelty now.

I think that's the meat of the whole mountsituation. I hope this provides you with the information you were looking for. If I missed anything, I'm sure our Forum regulars will fill in the holes.

Only certain types of creatures are mountable. Currently they are kaadu, carrion spats, falumpasets, brackasets, humbabas, dewbacks and bols. They must grow to a certain CL before they are graphically large enough to mount. This varies widely (Giant Carrion Spats for instance are immediately mountable, while plodding falumpasets must grow to almost full CL beforethey aremountable). Each day just keep checking the radial dial under Train. Eventually it will let you train Mount. When you train Mount, a saddle will appear on the pet. Thepet is then mountable.

When you are not on the mount it can attack just as any of your other pets. When you are mounted it cannot attack. Because it can attack, some folks have a BE make a mount that has good combat pet stats. That way they can dismount and use the mount as a combat pet. BE can now put DNA into any of a number of skins, including skins foreach general type ofmount, so it is possible to get some BE made mounts with very good stats. You can also find the strongest, fastestor most visually appealing (to you) varieties in the wild and tame them, then when they grow to the proper size, train them as mounts. However, the stats will not be as good as a BE can make, and the variety of CL is limited, whereas a BE can make anything from CL2 to CL70 mount type(you may not want to go much over CL60 since there are still some issues with calling CL70's).

The above holds true for essentially every tamable pet, i.e. a BE can make better. The only exceptions are tamables such as the Mantrigue Screecher that have AOE attacks. AOE attacks do not transfer to BE made pets.

Two helpful macros:

/dismount; /mount (Tiny)

/dismount; /pause 1; /maskscent; /pause 1; /mount (Tiny)

Where Tiny is the name of your mount, parentheses must be included. The first macro will dismount you if you are mounted or mount you if you are dismounted. The second macro is a quick way to maskscent while mounted. The time increment can be reduced to .1 if you like.

You can also make the following and put the Burst Run icon on it:

/BurstRun; /gallop

This will cause you to burstrun if you are not mounted, and will cause your mount to gallop if you are mounted. Essentially it allows you to put both commands on one key.

Hope that helps.

When you train a mount before it is adult, doest it stop/freeze its class or does the pet goes on increasing to its final class ? (so must I wait it to be adult to train it or can I train it before without changing the final result ?

GreenStok,

That makes me think. One thing that would help both CH and BE would be speed equalization between mounts and vehicles, or at least a lot closer. That would make the mount as valuable as a bike.

OK, I'm a Master CH and have returned to see some of the changes and what I've missed. I'm still trying to figure out how mounts work and could use some advice, please.

First I was told by a BE that the best creatures are now made and that really any lvl can be produduced and customized. (I was a little surprised as I always like getting my creatures the hard way) So I went and bought a Kaadu to be used as a mount. How does this work? Do I have to let the Kaadu grow up a bit before I can train him as a mount? What are some of the best creatures to be used as mounts?

Your help would be appreciated......

You need a CH to mount your pet. At least 0004.

He is right only creature handles can mount pets (0-0-0-4)( pack master). I think its the only thing CH has got left to use and if BE got the ability to mount pets it would mean the death of CH

Hi I have a complete newbie question about creature mounts I have done a search on the boards and am drawing up old creature mount topics before mounting obviously came into force. My questions are this
How do you make a creature mountable what skills etc.. do you need to do this ????
I see shops selling non ch dewbacks are these mountable if so howand at what level????
sorry to post what has probably been discussed a million times but I am new to the creature handling proffession and want to learn how to make myself a mountable pet.

thanks

You must be a Pack Master (hold the skill Creature Management IV) or be an MCH to train a creature to be a mount.

Lesser dewbacks are CL 9 creatures, and can be trained as a mount that a non-CH can call and ride.

Can anyone give me a list of creatures currently mountable. I have searched the forums and keep getting old posts from a time when mounting was not possible (2003). If anyone has a link to a recent list of cretures or if someone can copy and paste a list here thst would be good
thankyou very much zaal swinari
