Thread: Am i doing something wrong?

I have FT2 and ama master rifleman. I have read posts that say to to do the following:
Find a lair (huurton) Attack the lair until they all come out and surround you. When they do, attack them. If you have a elete prof you can get 5k/per.
I tried this. I used my C12's. I attacked a Picket lair. They surrounded me (like 6 of them) and I started using my grenades to fight them off. They were all hitting me at the same time so It was hard to throw grenades. I was buffed and still got wooped. Am I doing this wrong? They say to have an elete prof so I faught them off using my rifle, but then that defetes the purpose of using grenades. I know I'm doing this wrong. I usually use a droid to hold one creature as I hit it with grenades. If I don't, I hit the creature for 100-300 points. The odd time I may get a 1k shot in there. When I use a droid I hit for much higher. Please let me know if I am doing this wrong.

Yikes, yikes, yikes!
Number ONE! Our Melee def is bad. We don't get a lot of Melee Def right now. So getting hit on all sides by hard melee is a NO-NO! Never get surrounded unbuffed without top comp on! EVER!
Second, yer using grenades that actually hurt YOU! You are NOT hurting them as much as you are depleting your own HAM by using them AND hitting yourself! NEVER, repeat, NEVER use grenades close range! Don't do this ok?
Third, FT2 is inacurrate. DO NOT rely on your FT at FT2. It has good damage, but you will miss a lot. I have grinded Commando with FT2, but I know I'll miss a lot and am in a group or have a tank. FT2 is NOT good enough to survive.
Fourth, your not doing as bad as you think. MRifleman is a good foundation. Use some of your Rifleman skills to keep yourself safe. You CAN use the FT at range for HW exp by using Marksman skills. Where you are right now, no way, you can't tank bro. But hang in there...
In Summary,
- We get hit HARD melee
- Never get surrounded, our best cone attack is not a 360 degree area attack
- Never use grenades unless it's a static target. Maybe Lairs or supporting tanks IF you are out of the Blast Radius.
- The LP is much better for HW exp at FT2 then the FT...remember that.

Yeah, Flamers 2 isn't that accurate. Stick to your LP or your T-21 until you hit Flamers 3, then you'll be more accurate with your flamer than you are with any other weapon short of your rifle (assuming you didn't pick up any pistoleer/carbineer skills on the side).

yeah, i just hit flame 2 and tried to take on a pack of bols. No dice there, too much damage with only 72% armor. I did manage to get flame on all of em, but gd was it slow. I cant wait to get back to master for flame cone 2.

I'm assuming by using C12's that your looking for Combat xp. This is the correct tactic for combat xp but my guess is based on your post that you are targeting the mobs. DO NOT target the animals, your target should be the lair. If you throw at the lair you almost always hit the mobs(you should be standing on top of the lair), if you aim at the mobs, you very often miss which is why you keep getting tore up, your not doing enough damage fast enough.
Also C12's aren't very powerfull so don't expect miracles from them, but they are still faster for Combat XP than normal grinding. If you want heavy weapons xp using a flamer I suggest grinding on pikets(good xp and they are vuln to heat). I also found that if I set up a nice macro on some meatlump type mobs I can pull in fast xp, they don't give alot of xp but they are exceptionally fast(assuming you have a fast weapon). I have a macro I setup using my 2.6speed/900+damage flamer on them and pulled in about 200k xp relatively easily and got some loot lol. There isn't any real need to worry about dying against these mobs as they do almost no damage, just don't use specials, only use standard attacks because specials delay you and with a fast flamer like this you do more than enough damage for a one shot kill every time. I'll set up my macro again tonight when I get bored and I can watch TV or do whatever at the same time without losing that grind time. Getting a flamer like the one I'm using probably won't be easy but I imagine it will go just as fast with a good launcher pistol.

what you do is master TKA, for all those nice melee defs, then sit on a lair (I go with gientbaz nitchs because they're vuln to heat and there hide is in demand by AS of my galaxie, gorath,) and spam point blank one with the flame thrower. make sure you /kneel and that you have snowcakes. if more then 7 or 8 spawn pop a synth, by the time it weres off you will have killed what you were fighting. I get on avrege 2.5 k off each of these. That's how I'm grinding my new alt, (going to make him a commando, true to form, and ranger, 'cause I need meat for my doctor alt) oh. make sure you're buffed and you have 80% + kinetic armor. my favorate is 80% cold sliced to 90% base. I've got two suits of that and I'm untochable (by most things, stupid stun batons) in it.

God this is making me so mad...I have waited 42 hours for the second vist from the old man and still nothing and its driving me insane i have 24 skill boxes is there something i am missing?I have spent most time offline a ffew hours online spent like 24 hours or alittle less on dath now i am on endor
Can someone tell me something

I just want to make sure but you trained 6 full trees right. Not just 24 boxes? If you have 6 trees filled I do not know.
