My 2 cents....the best sub-components should come from the Basic profs, Medic and Artisan. The best finish products should come from their own particular prof, BE, AS, WS, DE....etc.
Specifically, I think it makes alot more sense to make low-level crafters the ABEC, schematic monkeys until they master their chosen 'finished-goods' proffession. Also, they would need to add vendor skills to the Medic crafting line.....makes sense to let Organics crafters have easy access to vendors. Ideally, change Merchant to require either Medic crafting 4 or artisan bus 4.
Oh well, the devs always see things different than me..
That's a very good idea. Will post it in the CU forums.

I dunno what this will do, I am sure the doctors are not going to like this new system means they have to be more of a retailer than a set up a buff house kind of thing. All in all I am looking forward to the CU but I can't help but sense that I smell a big nerf coming on. While I would enjoy npc's and pets being more "dangerous" I just am not 100% sold on all of it. But then again I am not the type of person who likes to be told what good is coming i'd rather see it than hear about it.
I just hope they give us our damned Secret packets for Ingrediant Boosts. I wonder where we'll loot them??

Considering
A character's maximum health will increase with the character's combat level up to 300%. New character health will be 1000, maxed character health will be 3000.
and
Long term buffs will modify this health value no more than 10%.
Demand for doc buffs will most likely be a lot lower than they currently are now.
How much of a demand for chef foods will there be when they only help about20%?
The thing that amazes me is they are calling this a combat upgrade, when it seems to be the people it is affecting most are Dancers, Musicians, Doctors, Bio-Engineers, Combat-Medics, Image Designers, Tailors, and Scouts/Rangers (14 more skill points required for mostmaster combat classes means giving up some scout/ranger skills for lots of people I would think), and merchants (no reason to have special vendors that talk or multiple vendors for easy shopping since it can all be tossed on one and advertised galaxy-wide).
They may as well toss in free house and swoop dispensers to destroy artisan and architect, too. I'd mention destroying Droid Engineers, but they are pretty useless now anyways.
The only non-combat professions I've seen not negatively impacted from the trickle of info is Armorsmith and Weaponsmith. They will have lots of new stuff they have to make.

At the moment, the highest level chef foods increase about 110% (assuming no migration) while doc buffs increase about 250%. So while food/drinks and other modifiers that increase 20% will be a drop, the drop makes then 20% as effective as they are now. Docs would have to deal with a drop that makes their buffs 4% as effective as they are now.
Given that, under this scenario, sales would drop drastically, I don't think keeping up with crafting demand will be an issue. A lot will depend on how prone the system is to being pushed to its limits.

I am thinking BE will be given the job of making poison and disease type stuff with medic doing healing type stuff.
As a CM I am not best pleased but we shall see.

Not to once more utter "the sky is falling", but please note the pubish 14.1 notes.
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Announcements&message.id=503#M503
In this, we see the "initial changes" to the entertainer professions coming into play, as well as galaxy-wide vendor search.
The good news... they seem to have put in the vendor search without automated delivery (it's unclear and I haven't logged in yet), and you have a choice to list your vendor or not. (Was that the best deal? Or is there some super elite vendor hiding from me?)
Further good news... more content, it seems, and I can grind ID straight through now if I want to.
Of course, this now means that the information they released can go stale pretty quickly.
Anyways, you should check this out just to see how things are going, since this publish includes things mentioned in the CU update (not hijacking, just pointing out); maybe the CU will be more gradual in some ways. And then...
WHAMMO...
The big change will come.
Anywho, I'm off to see what mischief I can do before the publish goes live.

I would like to pitch in that maybe the change will not be as drastic as some people are reading it to be. After all we alreay make meds. Pet stims and vitality packs any one?

I dont see how they put 2handed as a requisit to TKA i tought tk's was unarmed i might belileve 1handed because they use VK's.
Maybe they just dont want to end their streak and make something make sense . just my humble opinion and dont get me wrong an not against the changes but to tell you the truth is not impresing me this so awaited CU.
Like it didnt do anything for me the GCW chose your side and fight? what if i dont want to fight i play to enjoy the game, thatz the main reason i took BE because is noncombatant. and yes i am on leave
But now i witness the endless masacres of npc's come on only Entertainers are supose to grind on cantinas now players do it too, farm fp's everyone else is doing it.
Does the game needs changes YES but why are you trying to make us do everything in a group i already did my grind and work very hard to finish the template of 3 characters now i want to go and explore do others things besides combat.
Sry to be ranting about it here i apologize is just am a bit upset
The only good thing SoE has done when they introduce the EQ style of looting and the movement style make me cancel my account on EQ2 why play 2 games that are similar.
sry again tks for taking the time to read my opinions
