Thread: Noobie Question
Had a similar experience the last couple days. The missions from Yavin were pretty difficult at first and it was taking forever to splash the ships.
So I found a Master Shipwright and started talking to him. He explained some VERY elemental things about the weapons to me, that having just started with JTL, I had no clue about.
For one each weapon has a vs. Shield and vs. Armor rating. The higher the number the better it performs. Ion weapons are good against shields, Blasters are good against Armor, Disrupters are decent against both (I may have Blaster and Disrupters switched?). The weapon I had been using was only .170 against shields (and low damage to boot).
He then crafted up a selection of Level 3 weapons and let me have them for a pittance. I installed them and last night ran through the 60K exp for my 1211 box in a few hours.
My suggestion is to check your weapons and then talk to a Master Shipwright.
BTW, the Y-wing you get at 1000 has two weapon slots, but you can only fire one as the pilot. The other is for a gunner. At 2111 you get a scematic that you can fire two weapons as pilot. I took 1211 as my first to get the equipment cert, but if I had known about the second weapon at 2111, I would have got it first.
1) What tier is that? 2? 3?
2) Have you looked for better components for your ship?
3) Are you using droid commands?
4) Have you tried asking someone from your server that is in the stickied Helper list at the top of this forum to see if they can either group with you for the mission or provide some tips?
I am 1111 flying the ship that I got the cert for at 1000. The missions I am getting on Yavin are tier 2-3.
I have bought a lot of new equipment for my ship, but after visiting about 50 shops I was unable to find any weapons I could use. I don't use droid commands, I have not figured that part out yet.
I have not asked any helpers, that is why I am asking on the forums. I am at work and can not get in game.
The main thing I wanted to know is the question I asked, can I get more lower level duty missions somehow, or would they be worse because I am 1111 now?
If you find a chip that is programmed with those commands then you'll need to open up your datapad, find your astromech, bring up it's radial menu and select the option to program it. In the droid programming window click on the commands on the left you want to have on your astromech then click on the >> button in the middle to add the command. Once all commands you want are added click on the Commit button. Droids can only run a certain number of commands so you can't add everything.
Add the fastest droid interface you can find to your ship and add your droid to your ship.
Once you launch into space hit CTRL+A to bring up your commands and abilities, click on the Astromech tab then drag weapons capacitor to shield up to the first space on your toolbar and drag the capacitor overcharge to another hotkey slot. Whenever you launch into space make sure you hit the capacitor overcharge button. That droid command will boost your capacitors energy and regen rates tremendously.
Use the weapons capacitor to shield hotkey to draw power from your capacitor to heal your shields. That command will only heal as much of your shields that your capacitor has power to heal. The more capacitor energy available the better your shields will be healed.
You'll be amazed how much easier things get with just these two droid commands. There are others you'll want to add as well but these two will get you through quite a bit of content.

For most of the advanced critters you just have to be next to food and chemical crafting station hehe, there is no need to create schematics.
and in many cases, PRIVATE crafting stations.
