Thread: What to grind?
cause I am very lazy, and only have time to read the first page. I hope this answers your question.
I agree. I ground out Mabari chestplates until I reached Ubese, then started grinding Ubese armor shirts.
The beauty of these is that they only require 60 units of basic resources (30 iron, 20 steel, 10 fiberplast) but give 120-126 XP each. 120 may not seem like a lot compared to some items, but it is 200% return on your investment. Much better than most XP rewards for any crafter class.
I would like to declare my affinity for Mabari chest plates as a grinding item. Lets do some math!
Each tier in Armorsmith is a total 179 200XP.
179 200 * 4 tiers = 716 800 XP
Each Mabari chestplate requires the following resources, includingthree synthetic cloths and armorweave segmentand what isneededto makethem:
27x Inert Petrochemical
65x Fiberplast
82x Metal
40x Hide
When I make one of these in practice mode, I get 393 XP.

Divide the total ammount of XP neededon the ammount ofXP you get for one chestplate to find out how many you need to make master.
716 800 : 393 = 1824 Mabari chestplates

Now, lets find out how much resources is needed for this:
27x Inert PetrochemicalX 1824 = 49 248 units of Inert Petro
65x FiberplastX 1824 = 118 560 units of Fiberplast
82x Metal X 1824 = 159 568 units of metal
40x HideX 1824 = 72960 units of hide
A total of 400 336 units of resources

Now then, how much does this cost? Lets assume an average CPU (credits per unit) pricefor all the materials of 2 (you really shouldnt pay much more than this for inorganic grinding material). I see plenty of junk hide (often Corellianscaley hide, thehide dropped bynaffs)for sale at the bazaar at 2 CPU, so I think that is fair price for this calculation.
Now then, 400 336 units of resources X 2 = a total of 800 672 credits for grinding from novice to master Armorsmith without getting ANY of the resources yourself. I do advice you to get some BER 10 mineral harvestors and one or two chemical harvestors, youll save A LOT of money. You should allso get one or more wearables factories to churn out synthetic cloth for the mabari (ask a tailor to help you, pay him a few 1000 credits for it).

Anyway, back to the topic. Grinding through AS with Mabari chestplates is a lot faster than Ubese shirts, since these only give 120 xp per shirt (again, mabari chestplates gives 393 xp). The only problems with this is that mabari is a bit more complex, since you need some factory components (you can make the armor segments yourself, but I consider ita waste of time), and the fact that you need hide which is allways harder to get hold of than inorganics.
If you'll excuse me now, I have 700 mabari chestplates to make.
Armorweave segments are better than all of the above, except for time.
I grinded it out in 3 days, with less resources (Around 400k crap iron).
The gain per material unit used is higher. Running a 3 second macro in practice mode = priceless.
