Thread: I give up
What's the secret?
I've been a master Doc for a fair amount of time now, I have no intentions really of giving up the profession...
HOWEVER
Jesus these buff packs are frustrating the H*** out of me!
I've tracked and traced ingredients trying to get hte perfect combo, and I rarely IF EVER reach the 800 + mark on my packs. Quite frankly I'm sick of it.
Are people using BE clothes and experimentation bonuses? If so what? Am I missing some sure uber ingrdient that no one else knows about?
I honestly have given up selling buffs on Starsider so I'm not competing with anyone however I DO want to provide the best buffs possible for myself and my guild. it's jsut not worth the travel, the hassle and ulcers to sell anymore. ![]()
See that's what i figured as well.
I'm just unwilling to drop that kind of cash to sit in Theed Square screaming "MASTER DOC BUFFING"
I posted in another thread here on the wound treatment clothes wondering if that would at least help the consistency. I mean I can range between 2800 to 700. Come on.. there has to be SOMETHING to help that...
Here's the thing with medical experimentation tapes and master docs: With the 10 experimentation points that most of us have, we can max out the effectiveness. The only thing that extra experimentation points should do for you is to increase the number of charges and/or enable you to lower the med use on buff packs while keeping the fully experimented effectiveness. Power would only be slightly more because then you could invest a couple of experimentation points into power after you've maxed out your ABEC's charges. However, this would be miniscule and unnoticeable given the variability on buffs. A good avian meat with high PE is key, because your reactive gas will not have this attribute.
I think there is something deeper to be addressed in this thread, though. Skill tapes are the hot commodity, and people are paying hundreds of thousands or more to get the +10 or +20 needed to get another point or two. Is it useful? Sure. Is it necessary to compete? Absolutely not, unless you're catering to the non-masters (why sell buff packs with the price of herbivore and avian meat what they are anyway, but that's another rant for another time). No master doc should feel inferior because he/she has "only" 10 experimentation points. A lot of times, using superior resources and just doing experimentation the right waywill keep you on more than an even footing with those who have 11 or 12 experimentation points.
BE clothing giving you a +25 mod to wound treatment along with a droid that has a 110 medical module in it does help significantly, and should always be used when buffing.

See this is EXACT answer I want to hear, I'm not crafting to sell packs, heck for the trouble I can sell B wound packs and stims to the general market and make just as much if not more credits if that was my thing. I just want to provide the best buff possible period to me. I'm a heavy swordsman trust me I need it.
I know my packs aren't perfect but any edgeI can get, like BE clothing I am willing to buy.
As for the quality yeah it's just getting my people to kill a lot of those little birds for me *chuckles*.
I will say this, now that I've sworn of buffing publicly my life has slowed down this game has become fun again, I stress less about people hunting for me. Do I stil lwant hte perfect buff pack? Sure but I'm not going to break my heart over it anymore.
And thanks for the commentary on the exp tapes. I have to agree, since I'm not selling packs all my points go into effectiveness. So why spend the millions for points most of the time I'm not even going to use on effectiveness. ![]()
*runs off to buy more BE clothes to complete her outfit*
my enhance d's are at a minumum of 850 with only 10 points,i use avain thats +900 on oq and pe and +800 on drand reactive thats +900 oq /+800 dr with ABEC's at around 19-20 charges...61 power chem releases and 70-71 power solid shells with that combo 850 is very easy to get...and if you have them resources run in crates to avoid the crit and failures...just my 2 cents

Its not easy especially if you dont have deep pockets to collect the finest of fine resources. But i have been able to get 800+ but i usually suffer because the pe to go along with that fine petro 4 is just not very good. so i end up with shorter 2.5 hr packs instead of 3+ hr. But most people i know dont need a buff to last 2.5 hrs. And even a base defense doesnt typically last more than and 1:30 with about 10 min of actual fight time. I got in the habit of buffing combatants about 1.5 to an hour before vulnerabiltiy and they are good for the duration of most seiges. And by the time the first wave is finished usually the second wave is either a reconstituted strike force of unbuffed characters or a true relief force. But either way i can quickly buff health and or action of enough people to keep the base defense force standing.
Now If i could just have a squirt gun to put out flame dots i would be excstatic.
That'd work. I'm currently at work but when I log tonight I'll note the stats and post them here for you. Thank you everyone for your help!
A few more things:
- Find a town that is a Research Center and do your crafting there if you can. I get much better results when I go to a Research Center
- There is anecdotal evidence that a droid with a good food/chem crafting module in it is superior to a top-quality personal crafting station, even though the numbers would seem to indicate otherwise.

I almost feel dirty for doing it but I too gave up Be yesterday. I wish everything worked but untill it does I have to find something else that will keep me playing, I'd rather keep playing something that works than give up completely because I kept playing with broken goods
Wow, this was a while ago. I'm back at the BE tree, hope to get to master soon. Oh, and Tal-Nyou kick ass for being involved with this profession for so long, I was suprised to see your name still here in the BE forums. I know there are a few others out there who have been here forever as well, my hat's off to you guys.
I HAVE MILK AND EGGS NOW!!!!!!
