i think i read somewhere that the self entertainer buff issue was a programming issue. Probably has something to do with the fact you can't actually watch/listen to yourself, and you need to watch/listen to get the entertainer buffs.
programing shmograming, just copy and paste ![]()
howabout making a new button that says "listen/watch self" ?

Programming may be an issue, but until I see the code myself I will refuse to believe that it's because you can't listen to yourself. When I play, I heal my own mind wounds and battle fatigue, and to heal mind wounds and battle fatigue you must be listening/watching. As somebody already said, this looks like a case of copy and paste to me.
You are listening to yourself when you play. That is not the issue. The issue is that in listening there are benefits to the performer....XP and healing XP. It was stated before by the devs that these elements cannot be separated from each other in the buffing code and because the devs do not want us to be able to get XP for self healing and a small xp bonus for being a listener then we can't get self buffs with the current code. They did not rule out a rewrite of the code, and I seem to recall a statement that they wanted to, however no timeline was stated and it would be very low priority
That's how it was explained at least.

Ok, that is what I was not understanding. I can see where that could be a problem, so I will now lay off of this issue for a while. Thanks for clearing it up!

We're already gated on xp as it is, and our xp gain is painfully slow when you pay attention to it (I pretty much never do, but when I do, boy is it slow).
I never realized HOW slow our XP was till lately. On corbantis I've mastered scout, marksman, rifleman, CH, entertainer, and musician; but all while still learning the game so I didn't really focus on the timing. Lately I've been leveling a character on flurry and doing musician and TK. In one buff session of 2.5 hours I can run around Dantooine and fill 1 and 1/2 tier three boxes of XP. Even in brawler I could run around outside Theed and get a box in well under an hour. Now I've mastered Musician, entertainer, and gotten dance knowledge 4 on corbantis and I know how long it takes, especially the healing. On flurry the groups are so small that just getting to where I can start the novice musician box has been a chore and I'm seriously considering forgoing entertainer on that server because splitting my time means it will take even longer.
I don't mind how long music takes as much as I mind that in the time it will take me to master musician I could master and drop 3 or 4 combat professions and constantly be doing something new and different. I know the combat revamp is going to balance the combat professions but they really need to fix things so that mastering those professions takes as long as the non-combat professions or they need to lower the requirements for entertainers. It's doubly frustrating since we depend so heavily on the combat professions for a huge part of our experience and that is so hard to come by anymore.
