You tell LeetDudz0r: no...

Razorcats have identical body/texture to GSP's, I think.

Yes, only at about 60% of the size of a gsp (which is much more reasonable imo)

Couple of points. Was the GM unbalanced? Compared to other pets, yes. However CH as many of the MBE/MCH on the board (like me) can tell you, is not the be-all, end-all class. I don't PVP because a master of any other combat class kills me and both GM's in a very short period of time, despite the fact that I'm also a novice pistoleer as well.Nowdid thelevels need to be adjusted?Yes. However I think the fact that MCH is more expensive than several classes which can easily beat it in PVP should be taken into account when doing the nerf. The nerf to GM took 3 parts. You can no longer have two of them out at once. This is a huge deal. Not necessarily wrong but a huge deal. Armor rating went from light to none. That basically divides its tanking ability in half. They reduced its resists by a factor of 2. Basically in this regard they reduced the effectiveness of this pet by a factor of 8. Granted the dammage done by pets went up by a little but that does not matter. Almost every pet under CL40 was similiarly hit. No pet out there does significant amounts of dammage. I routinely do more dammage with my pistol than my gurreck does, and my shots also do DOT. Pets are almost exclusively aboutthe dammage they can absorb. So in realgame terms they just cut a MCH's power down by a factor of 8. That is not a small nerf. This is a why bother kind of nerf. I thinksooty is right. There will be a large scale exodus from CH over this. Suddenly there will be BH's every where. (Hell I'm considering making the switch). Net result, the same time they finally give the clone tree fixes, they will take our marketaway. Same old story for BE. We're@#$%^@ coming andgoing.

Are you sure abou this? From what I've seen Maulers are still cl 34, I know from the revices CH changes and from looking at the skill panel on TC that MCH's still get to call 3 pets and that the maximum a MCH can call is 70. This should allow 2 maulers.

Quite simply because I have lost all confidence in the devs to make any changes to a profession they have clearly wanted to reduce in numbersand marginalise for some time now.

it sounds as if they are trying to balance creatures against the player classes better so that the game doesnt revolve around the very graul mauler you are upset about. currently it only requires 3/2/0/0 yet it is the tank of choice to use oneven krayts by master creature handlers. that isabout as unbalanced as you can get. so the graul mauler isnt going to be the best pet available for pve anymore -its stats will change in the wild as well. all creatures wild stats will be changing sothere is no way to judge how balanced things are by seeing half the stats from one creature. The point is, that unless there is some high level version even approximately equivalent the the mauler, then master CH are getting screwed by a patch they were promised would not affect them much. Given that the first reports I had of rancors was that they were being made weaker at CL50 (and were already pretty useless except in very limited scenarios), I have no confidence that this will be the case.

whats really odd is that the graul mauler was the only pet i remember being specifically mentioned for significant revision. and the changes to creature handler are designed to come down very hard on the dabblers so how exactly is needing half the profession complete to be able to use a pet that is half the max levelavailable atmaster any sort of suprise? All creatures below CL40 are losing armor, not just maulers. Most pets are getting reduced resists (in addition to loss of armor) and increased CLs.

this is a massive change that will affect every part of the game and its going to be very interesting to see how it all works out. really are only two choices for now - either try out ch on test center or wait and see. I cannot try out new pets on TC because I have no way gaining access to them, even if the character copy service went live tonight. We have been told outright that the better pets will be rare (or ultra rare), so even if I had a MCH on TC there is no way I could test creatures I cannot tame and grow in the, what, 10 days we have before this goes live.

Actually, I have a third option I just acted upon - cancel my account until I see evidence that its worth continuing to play a game that is rapidly undergoing fundamental changes to its advertised functionality.

Hi Talthazar,

From the CH boards http://home.comcast.net/~moontayle/nerf3.jpg, My TC character is not a CH so I haven't validated it myself. Given that its a screen shot I tend to believe it andthe new CL does seem to be36. That would prevent two out at once.

Yup, sure would. I had heard about the resist changes earlier but not the CL change. Wish I could test this more myself. Overall it sounds like the lower level CH pets that are more affected, but it would be nice to be able to do some hunting as an MCH on the new system.

Funny, the fact that they are bringing CH's back down to earth is probably going to be the reason I actually choose to continue my account (currently cancelded)

Mirrl and Sooty you both have very valid points but all that i am trying to say is to wait for more information before judging the state of the profession. the graul mauler was a major problem for the game not because of the master creature handlers that used it but because so many bounty hunters and commandos could. for a creature that pivotal to the game it should only be available to the most powerful of the profession and we havent seen any information on what the cl 60 pets will be like. its very possible that something similiar will be available and that it will maintain the role of creature handler being the class the game revolves around.

this is a huge change to most of the content of the game - almost as if this were the end of another beta. the entire game will be different and im not going to pretend to know what the result will be. it could be that it ends up being the most pessimistic of possibilities or it could end up with a slew of people deciding its about time to finally get master creature handler. i just find it hard to believe that with the huge success of creature handler for the game (best pet class in any mmorpg ive ever played) that they would intentionally undermine it by marginalizing the class. this change to creatures is a tremendous risk that they are taking on many levels in an attempt to better the game for all the classes at hopefully only the expense of a few character templates that mixed and matched minor parts of professions to create tremendously powerful characters.

Kova - first off thanks for the reply. I know that I am reacting badly to the current news, but as I said before I have no confidence in the devs anymore to do anything but make CH a less fun, and less worthwhile, profession to play.

I think the main issue with the mauler wasn't that we thought it was fine, we all knew it was too good a tank (in most situations) for its CL. However, what we almost all expected was that it would be bumped up to CL 45+, instead of being totally gutted as a useful combat partner. It is laughable to see Thunderheart's patronising little para about non-CH being able to 'trade-in' their CL11-15 pets for CL10 ones 'because they have grown so attached to them'. Meantime, master CH that have relied upon a mauler, (or BDQ, grand wrix, GSP and other mid-level pets) for months are now FORCED to delete those petsor forever be hamstrung. I have never, ever had a pet DBed and I fight in some pretty inhospitable places. Now, I either have to basically assign another 3 pet slots to creatures I will never use again, or delete my faithful maulers in order to get pets that will actually survive more than 5 seconds against mobs that pistoleers and TKA can defeat without even trying.

The entire way the nerf has been presented to CH has been an insult, to our intelligence and our skills. We are told master CH will hardly notice it, but have to scream blue murder to getour third pet back, and now we find out that we will have to delete probably half of our datapad or never use those pets again to do more than kill durnis. Then we get trolls running rampant through our forum laughing at us and even wanting more nerfs. You'll just have to forgive me if I get a bit jaded after being the SWG whipping boy for 3 months, even after we had already been significantly weakened compared to many other combat professions.
