Thread: Top 5
A couple of variations on the DNA storage idea:
1. How about getting stacks of DNA from a single creature, the size of which are dependent on the level of the BE. A novice BE will always get a single sample from each attempt, but a Master will get stacks of 6 identical DNA when it works.
This will allow 3 things:
a)the ability to store more DNA in less space
b)the ability to do factory runs of pets (up to 5 using all different DNA and saving 1 of each for the schematic)
Hey Talthazar..
I'm glad that your pushing the blood sapmles idea, and I really, really hope that it makes it in.. But I have one question:
What is/are "Secret Reasearch Data" and how do we get it?
Thanks,
Claw Busal
P.S. I'm getting kinda tired of seeing this queston posted over, and over again, and it would clear up a bunch of headaches if SOME clarification was made about this...

TH has already anaswered this question, we would really like it stickied so we dont have to answer the question every day...
Basically TH said that there may be one or two rare items in game that fit the slot but the devs will be working on developing the slot in the near future.
Read into that what you will.
yah there's not a lot you can read into that
a rare item drop that can be crafted into an item that has a limited number of uses........ seems like such a waste ![]()
Don't confuse lieing and incompetance. Often Peter has no idea what Paul is doing, yet thinks he does and says so. It isn't a lie but incompetance. They wouldn't go through all the trouble asking for this information if it wasn't wanted. With 33 professions and 5 items each, that is a list of 165 items. If each items takes as little as 5 hours to complete, then that is 825 man hours, or 20 weeks worth of work for one person. It sounds like they have 2 programers going, at least I have only heard of 2. So that is 10 weeks worth mixed in with all the other things they put in the game. It literally can take a year for these things to be done and does take a year from the looks of things. BE had their pass already, so I don't expect us to be anywhere near the top of that list.
I feel the real issue here is that they are under staffed for the job at hand.
Even my university group project demo game level is assigned 4 programmers.
Just because only 2 of the programmers are allowed out of their boxes long enough to post on the forums does not mean there are only 2 programmers working on the project.
1) re-do that heavily cut, pasted and plagiarized advanced guide. it should include what are valid stats for pets (especially non-CH). what should the HAM be? not looking for hard core formulas, just looking for what should be reported if he happen to find an invalid or exploit. also, instead of COPYING sumorex and other's hard work at finding out formulas and consistancies for how to get armor, resists and specials, why not give us a definate on how to get those? at least a confirmation?
2) put that CL on the DNA templates at the very least!
3)BE skill tapes would be nice
4) skins for flyig animals and snakes. (non-CHable)
5) put CL on the DNA sample, altho since it is a master scout/ranger thing, i don't see this as something that'll happen

This would let us play with DNA more (since we would have to sample less) and simply give us more DNA. Masters should have a better chance at getting N than novices and harder creatures should give N less often than easier ones.
That has to be one of the most original ideas I've ever heard. I've taken the time to derive the pros and cons of it compared to the blood idea.
Pro: Keeps in line with current data base implementation. each sample attempt will either add a new item to your inventory, or it wont.
Con: Possibly complex coding which we know is something SOE has issues with.
Pro: They do not have to add an entire new set of items to the data base.
Con: "Rich get richer" economy. The people who could directly benefit from more dna samples per attempt would be the novices, however they will not see much difference from the current system.
Pro: Ability to make templates from the duplicate samples.
Con: SOE will have to make creature templates usable in a factory. Remember how long it took for even tissues to be supported?
Pro: Garanteed results (testable with tissues, doing the same combine with the same resources yields the same results)
Con: Garanteed results, with garanteed results, our "GREAT MYSTERY VOODOO VARIABLES OF DEATH" are laid plain, which SOE doesnt want us to know.
