Thread: Whats with the nerf bat being swung at BE's?

There really are several problems at work here:

1. BEs don't know what to expect when they mix their potions and come up with some boss DNA that they can use to craft the kaadu from Hell. Furthermore, the devs aren't telling what they should expect. This problem exists for a number of professions; a good example is smuggler, where the devs refuse to tell players what the maxiumum intended slice is on a weapon. Therefore it's difficult for even a master smuggler to discern if a weapon's slice is the result of an exploit, or working as intended. The devs have a very nasty habit of dismissing something that seems not right to players as "working as intended", then three weeks later a patch comes out that directly addressed the attribute that the players had questions about, and the previous conversation goes right down the old memory hole for the devs, who act as if nothing has changed. This is very frustrating to many players, who not only want to play the game, they want to understand it. Yet again the communcations problem that has plagued SWG from release rears its ugly head.

2. The CL system is, IMHO, hopelessly out of wack. It's geared around the offensive, damage dealing power of creatures, not around the real thing they bring to combat: their ability to absorb damage. Thus you can easily have silliness such as a BE pet that has tremendous HAM levels and resists, yet is low CL because it only deals 90-100 points of damage. The CL looks at the damage dealing, not at the fact that it can stand there and take punishment from a krayt dragon for 10 times as long as a player without being stimmed up. The only reason to have a creature pet, wild or BE,incombatis to be your meatshield, to draw aggro and absorb damage so you don't have to. The CL system does not recognize this fundamental fact.

The amount of people swinging the nerf bat astound me. Give these BE's a break. So what if they can make 6k CL 10 pets. Does that really imbalance the game? My master commando can one shot any of these and kill it.

Ahh yes, but a tuskan raider can't, and a bantha can't and a piket can't and a graul can't one shot it. A level 10 pet with 6k ham is waay beyond what a pet should have at cl10. A CH tamable creature is roughly 1200 HAM at the most. In the interest of making player crafted items better than others, I would say that a 2400 HAM creature would be double and quite substantial for a non ch pet. Not 6000 HAM.
