I really feel that pain Lam, but I'm going to try re-edjucation instead of surrender.
Here is what I do: I price by the DNA sample for pets.
So the COST of the DNA for my crafting depends on the difficulty of getting the DNA itself. ie: This is what I would be willing to pay another BE to get the samples for me, eventhough I get most of the samples myself. If the sample is from the krevol sniffing around outside my door, its free. If the sample is from something that sends me to the cloner all the time (urnsors' caretaker), well... thats much more expensive. On my server, people who run missions have no problem making about 500k+ per hour, so I try to guage my prices by that. Spend an hour getting DNA so that DNA is worth about 500k. So for me, uller stoneclaw dna comes really easy, so I call that 10k per sample. Or about 50 per hour. So after I pull some numbers out of my @$$ for DNA prices, I make petz.
Just like any other crafting profession, I take my cost of production (DNA costs) and multiply by some number to get a 'sale' price. Most crafting proffs use anywhere from x1.5 to x5 or higher for this price. Then you have to add in a fudge factor for things like, how kool the pet is, if its max level, if its max damage, ect...
This pricing is NOT 1k per CL. I HATE the fact that people are willing to sell for this little. Selling a pet that takes you hours of combined effort to make for 70k just kills me. (*looks for the /rant off button*)
Example: lvl 35 e-z pet
5xUller Stoneclaw @ 10k per sample = 50k cost = @ 2.5 multiple = 125k plus kewl fudge for being lvl 35 twin = 150k per pet. easy!
I sell for "this little" because I follow the same guidelines as you do, basically. Instead, the numbers I "pull out of my @$$" are lower than yours apparently, lol
BE is fun. I love MCH, but I am not a grind kinda person so I don't spend tons of time fighting. If I wanted to grind, I'd be back over at WoW. I spend most of my online time being a mad scientist and trying to perfect my recipes for the best pets I can make. It's all about fun to me, and that's what tickles me pink. So to me, the cost of DNA or to get DNA isn't very high at all. I get most of my DNA from Kashyyyk now anyway, so it's usually a "one stop shop" when I need some DNA. That convenience alone makes it seem too much to me to make my DNA cost higher. I do add in the cool factor and price my special things a bit higher due to that, such as my CL35s, triplets, and my CL70s... which get priced differently. My CL60-69s are a bit higher than my normal price scheme because typically they are the "CL70s" that didn't quite hit CL70, but still have awesome stats otherwise, so they go for 100k, with my CL70s 250k. Everything else is priced 1k/level. To me, hunting DNA and putting em together is all I really want to be doing anyway (with hunting trips for CH xp every now and then), so I can't see charging more (at least on my server) than I do, and I don't think it's a bad thing

I realize that BE has been and always will be something for 'special' people. By that I mean people who really enjoy crafting, and who don't just push stuff out for the masses. BE pets are either the lvl10s that can be used by anyone, or the higher levels that can ONLY be used by CHs. Imagine a new weaponsmith class that could only make rifleman weapons or CDEFs. Nice huh? (not really)
So with this special type of crafter, one who really loves what they do, we have a difference of opinion. It seems that most people just have no idea what to charge for pets. The 1k/lvl thing seems ok on paper. The math isn't very hard so anyone can do it. But then you realize that loads of people want lvl 10 pets. At 10k per, I almost want them to resell off my vendor! At 20k I still want to resell them! And a few people here are selling lvl 70 pets for 250k or less?!?!?! I can understand if the pet is just a lvl70 with 6k ham and 400 max damage, but not for a 9k health pet or one with 499 max damage. How much time was spent trying to figure out just how to make that pet? How many hours were spent getting the DNA for it? How many lvl 71s were made trying to craft that lvl 70? This 1k/CL price thing is the reason why a lot of BEs are always saying how poor they are.
I know my server (Bria) has a lot of issues with its economy. People generally have too much money. So when I put a lvl 70, 499 damage rancor on display in my shop, I wasn't suprised when someone asked to buy it within a few days. When I asked how much they wanted to pay, they said one million credits with out even thinking about it. I have since sold many, many 499 max pets for 1 million credits. And the 9k health/380 damage pets and the 6.5k health/474 damage pets all sell for a pretty penny.
It sounds a bit harsh, but if you don't really want to run a business, then don't try to ruin the business of other crafters on your server. If you want to give your time and expertise away then thats your business. Do the Lam thing and just give your pets away and accept donations. I'm not trying to make the prices go up or anything, I'm just trying to keep people from destroying a potentially good market for themselves.
I could, for example, start to sell some of the best chef foods on the server for 25-30k per crate of 25. But that would just make me very busy and piss off a lot of other non-BE chefs. Instead I choose to follow the market and price goods at a fair value. This being based upon what the market will bear and what others on my server are charging. If it comes down to it, I'll just take down my pet vendor and keep some of what I think are the best pets on my server for myself.
* caveat: I do just give pets away too. I save stupid prices for vendors. If people want to talk to me, I'm always willing to make deals. If you visit my house, you'll see I'm a bit of a loot monger, and a lot of the things in my house came there thru trading.

Not to gloat or anything, but I find it very funny how a recipe I posted two months ago keeps recycling.
You SHOULD gloat - it's a great recipe and delivered at a time when we didn't know just how far we could push it. *I* think you should be getting royalties from all the people using it lol.
Good work there and sorry for seeming to claim your recipe for my own or put down your recipe - you know I know I never meant to do that...
Dor (who in RL really LOVES cookies)
PS. Thank you for the hugs Kath - I like hugs almost as much as I like cookies ![]()
70 - 350K if a kimo or rancor (im a master be and not a dabbler so they can pay for it
) 300K everything else

lvl 69 H:? D: ? (can't examine) 475k
When I looked, there were 720 pets on the vendor search. Of the 21 pets that could do 400 or more max damage, 16 of them were mine, and the rest are listed here. I've also given a sample of the 'cookie cutter' pet that everyone found in the forum. It seems like 1k per CL is almost expensive for that pet. How many BEs do you think are on this list? You may or may not be suprised to know that of the 14 pets, there are ten BEs. There are many, many more examples of the lvl 60-65 'cookie cutter' on the bazaar, I just put a few here to give an idea of what the prices were ranging from.
QUESTION: Given this as your competition, what would you charge for pets with 499 max damage?

I need to start working on a 499 recipe now! ![]()
I kinda sell them in a wierd tier pattern, kinda based upon what can be called.
1-10 I usually do not stock any pets that are non CH. (1 too many "I want a level 10 Rancor, he has to have 9k health and +475damage and i want u 2 name him Obi's Weenie, o train him too" requests...)
11-23 - 125k
24-39 - 250k
40-49 - 400k
40-70 - 500k
so a set of trips will be 500k, twins will be 500k, and a single will be 500k.
that works out very well to the level of time/difficulity it takes to make the set/ pet.
I also adjust the price a little/lot based on the pets stats, the # of gens, and if i used PreNurf dna (the kind yause to make the 13% aggro bonus stuff with or Ranged) it took.
My MBE is also a Master merchant so he's got a CL of 17, he gets waxed more than a new car. Collecting DNA is truely an adventure! I HATE the mobs that have Ranged and DB with it. I can not count the number of times ive been hit by a spitball on my swoop and slid a 1/4 mile on my face across the planes of endor. I die alot, and every death is time, every sample is time, every time you make a Generic Template, its 1 minute before you can make the pet, and 9 of 10 pets get resampled, at least for me... so thats my less than sane, rambled on too long theory for pet prices, I don't sell millions of pets, but they do sell.

Dor (who is joking)
Well... seeing as how the price was going down the more damage the pets do, I was thinking more like 100cr / CL ![]()
LOL, I've see two as the min level is 35. When was the level lower then that? Must have been pre-nerf when they took armor off the Grauls.
