you cant have more than 1 pet (droid or creature) out at the same time.
This was temporarily on test center but was taken out before it went live.
You cant even have your crafting droid and mount out at the same time

Well I would say for one reason is because you can pump droids out of a factory all day long for one, so whats the the point of wasting hours to collect dna and then hopefully craft a decent pet if your lucky. Plus on our server theyre building droids with 5-6k hams
There are a few errant notions here that need to be dispelled. From least to most important:
1) each chassis has its own limits on HAM. the ones with the most HAM have the worst damage.
2) yes we can reproduce something in mass, but saying we can do it "all day long" is utter crap. It takes days and days of factory time to make all the subcomponents, sub subcomponents, and in some droids sub sub subcomponents. That is not even mentioning the High Grade resources we need to gather or buy (with credits!! and on my server a LOT of credits to get the good stuff) to make the best parts. It just took me 3 days with 2 factories running full out to make the parts I needed (I actually had half of them made already, so it would have been even longer if I hadn't) for a run of 30 droids. I'm not bigtime and I cant make runs of hundreds of droids, but I stille get really bugged by people who think its easy.
3) as BE doing the stuff to make a good pet is actually a lot of fun. yes its hit or miss, but you actually get to play the game when out hunting for things and sampling DNA.
4) Droids should be better and more common than pets in a Star Wars game. Droids are finally pretty close to where they ought to be, and our new products can be very helpful to BEs (creature harvesting droids rock), we aren't your enemy and trying to make us so is just foolish. I keep non CH pets even as a DE, and I still buy BE enhanced clothing and food. I am 99% sure any drive to nerf nonCH pets did not begin from DEs, and has not been perpetuated by DEs, so there is no need to snipe at us.
PS droid repair kits work perfectly well during combat.

My issue with this situation is that these uber non-ch pets are supposedly 'invalid' or 'illegal' or at the very least, not supposed to happen. If this weren't the case, we wouldn't have seen our big class patch completely reversed in the months following it's implementation.
Quite a few people take issue with DE's being able to craft these kinds of pets because BE's were punished for doing so, under the claim that it was unbalanced. It is starting to seem like rather blatant hypocrisyon the part of the devs. I'd really love to be able to consistently craft non-ch pets that are on par with basic combat droids.
However, doing this requires special recipes, careful pre-planning and hours of work. After this, I really can't makea profit or even get paidadequately for my time because everyone expects me to beat the price of their local droid engineer.

One big thing you seem to be missing is that a non-ch pet and a droid can be used together. So if you are looking for non-ch combat would you not expect everyone to be looking for the best of both. who really cares if one is better than the other when anyone can use both.

you can only use both if you have creature handler

umm this arguement is moot. Any MBE can build a cl 18 creature that would rip 3kham 40% apart. Big damn deal if yer droid has an energy attack, just use sulphur mynock and lantern bird DNA and you have an automatic 60% energy resist. Oh, you think the Ranged combat command will make a difference? use a cat skin and the droid will do nothing but run away. It's our versatility that will win this fight. no mater what module you put in the bot, our animal will kill it. And hey, when your bot dies, it's gone. We get to use Vitality Packs.

Thats really not the case, *most* combat droids will tear shreds out of your non-ch pet - but that isnt the point, droids and pets serve different purposes - droids have high damage and dps whereas your average non-ch pet is built for damage absorption and has very minimal damage, even a pet with 60% energy resist is going to have a tough time against a droid in a 1 on 1 fight.
As far as I can see the droid vs pets are completely different markets - the droids are for dealing out damage - they compensate for those with a lack of weapon skills, whereas a good non-ch pet will have the lowest damage possible, just enough to keep aggro whilst not doing enough damage to reduce XP gains.

this is where i disagree. I can make cl18 pets that have 200 damage 1.9 seconds and .3 to hit. I can do it with high energy resists. If you look at it from a numbers perspective:
animal hp __armor resist armor_ham +resist_ham damage speed dps __time to fight
bot ___3000 0 ____40 ____3000 _____5000 _______160 ___1.8 __88.88 47.5
animal 3000 0 ____60 ____3000 _____7500 _______200 ___1.9 __105.2 84.375
(* armor_ham is effective ham after armor is applied, +resist_ham is the effective ham after armor and resists are applied. Time to fight is how long each creature would last vs. each other)
as you can see, the animal will live for 84 seconds while the bot will live for 47 seconds. Hmmm, that's half (approximately). And I dont even have to heal my pet. And that is if i give it equal HAM.

But we're talking about non-ch pets vs droids - just because a droid can be CL 18 and still controllable by a non-ch doesnt mean pets can also.
We're talking about CL 10 and below pets

/sigh
someone in the pistoleer forum was whining about not being able to use all the pistols in the game (yah, all two of them)
after explaining it to him a million times that you can't get something for nothing i came to the conclusion that it's basically trying to explain to a kid why he can't watch an R-rated movie.....
i think that same statement applies to this argument also- some people just don't get it, and it can't be explained to them cause they won't understand anyway

Nancy your totally right, ones a meat shield (pets), the droid is more a tool or gun.
I recently went ranger to compliment BE, i also picked up CH again.
Now I have a droid(harvester/combat) and a pet out..If the MOB is high lvl ill switch to my pure 4500HAM combat droid (gun), since i lack any combat skills, if its a low lvl MOB, ill use my harvester/combat droid 2880 HAM (tool), but i always keep the same pet out 10k,5k,3k cl7 gurreck, (meat shield) to take the brunt of damage for me and the droids
