Thread: DNA Sampling: What CL at What Skill Level
I didn't go for biggest buck bangage, myself.
I basically did what the hologrind post suggested.
L1 = yard trash around mos entha (lots of worrts, rills, lesser womp rats and mites).
L2 = Cu Pa missions. Having Pistol 4 helped because I could take them out and get their meat when they aggro'd.
L3 & 4 = Piket Plains Walker missions on Dantooine. This was great because they gave decent xp and they also died alot, meaning I could frequently clear out a lair and make great money just by sampling them to death. It was particularly funny when one guy came along and saw me sample, then sit (per my macro) and about 10 seconds later the Piket would keel over dead. He asked how I was killing them without fighting and I told him it was Jedi Mind Powers.

Alright update:
Sampling IV gives me access to 56+ (I fail on 60 and above).
As far as "grinding" the sampling, I did a lot of my work with mynocks and gurks on lok and also the mereks and swirl prongs on endor (throw in some crazed Gur. ect.)
I could sample level 50 max at Sample 4...that or y'all have much more patience than I do. My last day of sample 4 (just after my pitiful failures trying to get a mutant)I followed a bull rancor around for about 90 minutes trying to get a sample. All I got was failures and aggro. Same with Merek Deaths Heads...90 minutes of nada. As soon as I hit master, all my sampling problems went away. (I consider 2 successes out of 10 attempts at mutants A+, LoL).
After watching this some at novice and now level 1, my guess is that there is a chance of success for a combination of skills and target. If your chance of getting a sample is 2/10, it doesn't really mean that you will get 2 out of 10 samples. It really means that you have an 80% chance of being unsuccessful each time you try.
I've failed 4 times in a row on gnorts yet managed to get two ikopi stags(CL 30)on the first or 2nd try and managed a plains hunter. I'm finding my time (and drugs) better spent on higher XPs because the failure rate doesn't seem proportional.
