Yes, imperials and rebels alike seem to 'forget' their morals when credits are involved

That's a new one on me. I've sampled quite a few creatures, and never had this happen. If it is indeed true (NancyJ I'll have to join test center so we can test this one out) this should be moved to one of our top issues, since we're not doing anything factionally related when sampling creatures. I'd also be curious if this is true when CH try taming (since the creature takes on a factional affiliation at that time as well).

You canget a TEF while out sampling creatures, because all someone has to do is attack the creature you are currently sampling and you will be automatically TEFed. Then they can attack you at will. This seems like an odd exploit to me since most BEs have little to no PvP type combat skills and can therefor be an easy kill.

I was just thinking about it, and it might be possible to abuse this in reverse. Just catch some poor soul who is out the killing something huge (like a graul maul) and just sample it, get both of you TEFed and just blow the guy away while the graul maul poundshim into the ground. If that turns up as possible, I am sure the Devs will be on it quickly. You might want to test that too.

You can't Sample something that's in combat.

Yes, but you can sample something and then have it go into combat during the sample. Does this indeed result in a TEF?

I am not sure about if it can be done in reverse. TEFs are an odd thing, and just attempting to sample a creature in combat with an opposing covert might cause it to happen. It just depends on where SOE put the checks into the programing for TEF. But I am pretty certain that a covert from an opposing faction attacking a creature you are currently sampling will cause a TEF. This is how it happened to me:
I was on Endor sampling DMAs for DNA, when a jedi with no tag showing comes up and hits it with his light saber. Suddenly we both were TEFed. As soon as I realized what happened I took off at a full run, needless to say the jedi ran me down and killed me. I only lost 45 faction points and no items decayed because of the death (I go out prepared to die while sampling), but itwas still abit annoying that thisdid happen.
Any testing you can doto verify this Bracci, would be greatly appreciated on my end.

My only query with this is - how did he attack the creature you were sampling? Sampling a creature causes it to be unattackable.
If you can give me more exact details of what happened then I can look into it.

I just stopped going to Tatooine unless I really need to. (I.E. Good Tat fiber or Meat) In which case I hop to a player city near where I want to do my business, never leaving a starport. Lowers my risk of getting scanned. And Tatooine is an ugly planet anyway so I don't miss it much. what I find funny is that Tatooine is so far out on the outer rim that it's supposed to be virtually free of the empire, yet it's the most heavely populated planet in the game in my opinion. *shrug*

Nancy, I always wondered this, and maybe you have been non factioned so long, but when you tame or sample, the creature gets your faction sign while in process, I have often wondered and feared this possibility.
This means that CH's are in just as much danger, while taming. This is not a good thing, would be very interesting to try... also I don't recomend that you have your bike out, if you don't make it to your bike, they could destroy it too. Creatures included although it is rare.
PS I am surprised at the sudden activity of this post lol.

Looks like it is getting to be time to go neutral then *sighs* I don't mind getting killed when I'm out fighting, or raiding or doing faction missions, tec., but getting TEF'd for sampling takes the biscuit

i'm an imperial as well
i'm a master pistoleer, master bio-engineer and currently dabbling in ch so i can have a bunch of nonch pets before i drop it lol
with this, i have very little trouble taking on squads of rebels..... even in pvp, i can hold my own for at least a little bit
with this, i have very little trouble taking on squads of rebels..... even in pvp, i can hold my own for at least a little bit
the thing about scans is werid though
any half-way decent fighter can take out a squad of troopers.... and with buffs can take down a base with several AT-ST's without breaking a sweat, but one with minimal combat couldn't solo one trooper
the scales are a bit tipped on both sides, but i like this implimentation in the game
it gives more sense of the grip of power that the empire holds on the galaxy
but if you really want to be a rebel crafter, there are many cities where you'll be safe.... even on tatooine:
anchorhead is a haven for rebels, mos eisley is free of scanners, etc.
you just have to decide if you really want to be a rebel scum

Lol Kevie... I agree, I think it's great with the scanning crews, and getting tagged a rebel, I wish that it would get you on a NCP bounty board, and every once in awhile a NCP BH would come after you for being to visable, I don't think that PVP would be good, but PVE would be great. I would love to be in Eisley and have some BH come after me, how cool would that be. Although PVP would be fun for some, especially if it just showed your current title on the board, so they come for a novice bio-engineer, but meet up with a MRM/MCH fully buffed with 2-3 pets and a T-21 drawn. Can you say who's your daddy?
But as always BH's should be non factional Reb or IMP.
