I agree that the vagaries of what is and is not valid make things frustrating, wholeheartedly.
To state it succinctly, what I fear is that a hard definition of what is the max acceptable stats for a CL 10, or for any level, for that matter, will mean that those become the only acceptable stats, and nothing else will differentiate between what any two BE's can do.
I just don't want to see us trapped in the role of making only the stats defined as a maximum valid CL 10 and nothing else.

All this makes me think the code has a bug.
(waits for feigned surprise to lapse)
Yesterday I created a pet for a friend. It ended up CL10, HAM in the 2.5k/1.5/1k range, 33% kinetic resists and a couple other resists, (I forget the damage) and stun attack. It was created through recursive sampling of DNA.
I took the creature and tamed it. Then pulled it out of the the datapad and trained it (I am a MCH also... how does that go? Not only am I the president, I am a customer?) anyway, after I trained it, including storing and pulling it again, I transferred it, and he could not pull it out (invalid pet for the level). So after the nerffing of the stats, it had 900 HAM, no resists, reduced damage, but kept the special attack.

i made a cl10 bantha and tamed it then traded it to a friend and they got the invalid msg on calling it the first time......
had a cl7 with about 1k ham that i made IN ONE CRAFT... no resampling.... that appropriated the stats to exactly 300 ham and took away all the resists/vulnerabilities/specials..... really odd
and my cl10 pets with 4k ham are working perfectly *sigh*

2 things I never understood about the Devs:
1) If it's a bug, it takes forever (if at all) for it to get fixed.
2) but if it's an exploit, it will be fixed relatively quick (w/in next patch)
3) they are super quick to Nerf profs before they fix the ones that don't work.
Okay I guess that's 3 things...I could go on for a little while longer but I'll cut it short.
