let me say this.... GOUGE? THIS IS what i call risk vs. reward here takes me 2 hrs to make a pet. not including fails and the FACT DO get incapped or killed each time i try to sample

Sure when one BE tries to sell a top end creature for somewhere approaching what a WS charges its ALL BE's gouging. Even if the rest of us are selling out tope end pets for half that. Didn't you know that? Ignore minor issues like making a good pet is a lot more dnagerous than making a good weapon. Ignore the fact what it takes use much more effort to make 1 creature than a WS 1 weapon.

Sarcasm aside good weaponsmiths do work hard I realize this. I've played a WS, but the fact is there effort per weapon is much lower because they can mass produce them and we can't. This also means theyare partially protected from critical failures and we aren't. Every creature we make has the sort of risk of their Krayt weapons, without anything approaching the reward. Although this may be less true now that Krayts are so much tougher to kill.

Ok, here is how I define Gouge:

Use low quality non agro random DNA, and slap some piece of crap together:

IE: CL 35 Rancor, 4k ham, highest resist 20% electricity with others insignificant, no armor, and only special was dizzy selling for 100k. Thats gouging.

However when you build a Death Durni with the same CL, 9k HAMwith 70% (no armor)acroos the board with 100% electricity heat and acid that has strong poison and hits for 500, then we are taking about quality here. You have to go out of your way to sample dangerous creatures, and then add good resources into the mix to bring up exparamentation results. Paying 100k for this beast is not a gouge. Its a pretty square deal.

This is also why I go out with my BE and help them find and sample creatures. I sell him high quality meat that I harvest at 2 cr a unit, and I help him find eggs, milk, and fish. As a result I got my death durni for free with a /kow and a /salute.

My point is that if you want to get a good deal on one of the new uber pets, stop flaming the BEs unless they really deserve it (their profession used to really suck). Instead, talk to them about their prices. Try to help them and form a lasting partnership with them.Ask them about resources they want/need. Offer to help them hunt and protect them from agro with your pets. You aren't going to make any allies berating them about how they are gouging you (BTW I have yet to hear someone calling gouge say what the stats were in the critter they were being gouged on).

I see this change as a blessing for both BEs and CHs, andthe last thing we need is people crying about unfair prices and crying nerf on them.

I put my time in on Bio-E months ago, and have spent the interim period as some sort of carbon based PetStim factory. Just to straddle the line - I picked up MCH as well.

No sympathy - the profession was never intended to be waht it became, they all had to know that and had plenty of time to get out or pick up Bio-E.

Mounts are all but dead with vehicles out, their creatures are worthless in the market, and they are finally being forced to be what they were always intended to be: Creature Trainers.

With any luck, they will leave the prof. in droves.

OMG
I cannot believe that a CH would EVER say nerf BE. I can understand being upset that someone would charge 100k for a CL35 Rancor. I do explain to all my customers now that there is significant risk involved in sampleing a creature. If you want a top end creature, be prepared to pay good prices. I'm fortunate, I have a Ranger in my guild who helps me out (until I become one), and they're very supportive of me (meat and veggie wise). So I'm able to sell my pets a a more reasonable price. To an Unguilded BE? Travel costs to Dath, Endor, and Dant, insurance for our stuff (yea that's a nesessity) for 4 or 5 deaths, AND cloning. you bet I'm charging. I seem to recall these are the same CH who were charging OVER 100k for a mount. C'mon..get real. I let every CH I sell to know what the price is after I make the Creature, and if they don't want it..kwel, I'll hold onto it for a guildie or someone else will want it. I've made several new friends this way, and Have seen referrals as a result. Those CH's that are whining need to understand, as we get better THEIR creatures get better. How is this not a win-win situation? With the 70k they spend on a top end kimo, they can make ten fold that running missions with it now. Hmmm...who wins in the end? Nerf..please...Let us have our time.

As a long time Master Creature Handler who started because I LOVE animals in this game, I say, good for anyone who gets the sweet spoton the nerf bat.

However, Darlings, it's just a matter of time until SoE hits everyone with the ugly stick at one point in time or another. So enjoy what you have when you have it and remember the elevator goes to the bottom floor just like it goes to the top. Be excellent to each other.

Enjoy the new toys, they break all too easy.

Oh yeah and pray for the Droid Engineers, and if you get something nice for your profession take the secret to your grave, cos someone will always be jealous.

As for me, I will see you around sporting my new side-kick, a buff woolamander who adores me. And matches my favorite outfit.

Peace.

Nerfs come and go on cycles, and rarely have anything to do with the actual power of the profession, while it almost always is based on the percieved power of it by outsiders. Bioengineers better get used to the complaints, wether they are deserved or not, because they wont go away now that we make viable pets.

I'm waiting for the people who have been screaming for the complete elimination of Creature Handlers from the game to realize that Bioengineers can make reasonably decent high level pets now, and once that happens get ready for the "Remove CH and BE from the game, they're not Star Warsy!!" threads to start popping up...

CHs also need to realize that these prices won't hold. Its a new patch and new pets. The demand for them right now is huge and people are willing to pay just about anything for them. In a few weeks, that will die down and a much more stable price will come out of it. There will still be some high priced pets around, since ya, it does take a lot of work to make one.

Also, the prices right now aren't as bad as I expected them to be.

Keldonn Creep : Chilistra : TKM, MCH

Nerf Bio-engineers... If i ever saw a fellow CH say that i'd smack him in the mouth. Infact i say Make BE's more versatile This patch has probably been one of the best things they could have done for the game. They eliminated the power of the CH dabblers, and made is so that instead of having 3 decent tanks like gsps, or two uber meat shields like graul maulers, you could have 1 awesome pet that has the running speed of a gurrek light armorgreat resists with ranged Knockdowns and dizzy specials... It's just too good to be true. The possibilities are endless i say just give BE's some more skins to work with

If BE's ever need some backup sampling high level mobs i'm there will any of you all the way

long live the BE's they are truley gods among men

Creatures are fine and dandy, But the real deal about the BE's are the enhancement tissues for tailors that we can make. I do believe that is the only way to improve your skills in the game. Except of course the random, buggy skill tapes. +25 max per clothing item, four pieces of clothes and BINGO! +100 to a skill. Very nice.

GOUGE LOL. Sorry but with your new found crafting abilities you're going to have to deal with these accusations on a regular basis just like all the others.

There are a whole lot of morons that don't understand supply & demand that play this game.
