AMEN to Nyria's comment. I was looking forward to this Friday night of crafting - had enough huurton pup DNA to make (I thought) 5 level 10 mounts for orders. I critial failed on 4 of the5 and on the 5th oneI failed on 3 experimental points!GEEZ! What fun is this????

BTW, I am a master and use a top of the line crafting machine and had no BF.

*sigh* what a crock.....

While it's true that in many situations a critical fail is merely an annoyance, why have it at all? Especially since there are also many situations where it's devestating and unfair.

Geez Psiko,

I'm with Nancy. This is a game, not a real-world bio lab. (BTW, where generally you have better control over the situation than a dice roll) If it were that scientific, there should bea pattern. I can get better results on junk resources than I can on good ones. Same for crafting tools and stations.

And the 'addressing failures' was kicked out cause they were gonna trash it worse, not fix it. Which is about par.

Well, I gave up BE but am thinking on getting it back for my final template...

I would be okay with losing *resources* in a crit fail (final combine)...but I think you shouldn't lose DNA samples or templates.

Architects got that kind of love because they lose so many resources in a crit fail. I partly agreed with that change. I actually think they should lose resources, but not components. LIke...you could lose resources while constructing a structure module. But when you make a wall...if you crit fail, you'd lose the resources, but keep the structure modules. Then when you make a house or harvester, you lose the resources, but not the walls or other mechanisms.

I think same should go with BE, except never lose DNA samples. DNA samples are odd because they do NOT stack. Even if you have every single lot taken up by a factory for 1000+100+110 (approximately) inventory spaces..you are extremely limited compared to other crafters for what resources you can keep on hand (using vendors as storage is very risky). Also, DNA samples are extremely risky and time consuming to get themselves...you face death, decay (crit fails in themselves).

I like the risk in getting all these things..it's the attraction to BE for me--it allows me to experience more exciting aspects of the game (combat)...but it hurts to lose those things...more than when I was an architect before changes and lost things that way.

Don't try to make out BE crit failures as worse than those for other crafters. Like the T21 example, I blew up a fully loaded R3 ADV droid once and I couldn't make another droid for 2 days.

Besides, crit failure rates were addressed recently, but the players decided they didn't want the changes.

I am really sorry to hear that. How many times did you have to die and clone to make your R3?

I tried the new crafting system and loved it...for one session. Then it went back to the way it was. I don't know who complained about it, but as a master, I was getting fewer critical fails. I wonder who led the outcry to increase the number of fails. Experimental failures (when listed at 0% risk) are bad enough. I average about one of those per five exp. points even at master level with the meter showing no risk.

I'm sorry for the terrible formatting. It looked a lot different on the format screen:

Here is the way the above message should look.

Only the experimentation chages were taken out - not the changes to the crit failures.

Well, having just lost my only Toxic Merek Battlelord and Bark Mite Burrower Queen samples to a stupid critical fail while using a +15% tool and standing infront of a +42% Crafting Station, I'd say critical fails are more than mildly annoying...maybe I should move to research centre and eat that crafting food everytime I want ot make something? May be not!

That fail cost me a LvL 40, 10K HAM, 50% Kinetic,AR1 Strong Poison--Blinding StrikeMerek that I could've sold for a lot more than a T21. I used to be a Master Weaponsmith andcritical failiures werefar less painful. Besides, where's the danger in mining resources and running schematics through factories (this is a rhetorical question btw)?

But its not a game without crit fails - TH said so!

For me it's not so much losing the dna samples, those i can deal with. it's after making a Generic Template and getting to the creature cloning stage and then getting a crit fail, that's what aggravates the hell outta me.

you can take away my dna samples and my food/flora but if a crit fail occurs during the creature cloning stage can u please return the Generic Template to my inventory? don't architects have something similar to this when they get a crit fail, they lose some things but other stuff simply goes back into their inventory? i thought i read that here on the forum a little while back but i could be mistaken.

I am very glad to hear more people have this problem, its not going away knowing that all suffer, but at least now I know im not going to be alone on the mental institution, constantly repeating for myself, "why why why, who am I , I don know.."

But seriously, what makes the problem even worse is,(this was addressed above but is worth mentioning again and again and again)

All other crafters have the opportunity to create stuff in FACTORIES. And factories NEVER crit. fail.

At least I dont know of any factories that crit. fail. If anyone have heard from a factory complaining about critical failures please let me know.

I've been having a really bad time the last week. Since I'm a wookie and can't get but one piece of clothing with mask scent I gave up chef to master scout and take as much of ranger as possable for camo ( I hope camo works). But since I became master scout this last weekI'm getting attacked a lot more when sampling. And I'm getting a lot less VHQ samples. Usually when I go to Endor I get about 40% VHQ 40% HQ and 10% AA. Twice now in the last week I've gone and barely gotten 20% VHQ 50% HQ and 30% AA. And I'm sampling the same creatures I've always sampled. Also went to Dath to try and get some mutant rancor samples for the first time. What a mess that was. Even being master scout I had a hard time getting close to them (please camo work....) but I did manage to get 5 samples. Guess what? Crit fail! lost them all... Lots of crits when experimenting too. Something strange is going on.
