Trolling is not rude. There are people out there that like to read what's going on with other professions. Are you telling me that because I don't have a character on Bloodfin, I'm not allowed to go to the Bloodfin board to see how the imperials are doing, or read about some of the guilds on that server? Maybe I'm looking to create a character on that server? My point is not to flame you, or make fun of you.My point is to say you ARE mistaken by telling people to stay off this board unless they are BEs. Last time I checked, these boards were a part of the SWG community.

I think you are using the word trolling incorrectly

"Thus if my 'Not exact Science produses9K HAM excellent resistcl10 I'm no longer gonna feel bad about it."

Maybe I'm just a bad person, but I never did feel bad. Not once. They gave us an undocumented system and said "go figure this out." And we did. In the process, we discovered all sorts of interesting things the Developers put in the system. Some of us even raised our hands and posted our genetic monstrosities and said "Hey, you might want to fix this" and what happened was they nerfed the 4k/3k/2k pets and left our 11k/7k/6k 60% kinetic pets alone (I can still make and call these fine).

When I was an active BE, I subscribed to the philosophy, as did others, that it was our job to create the best creatures for the CL possible. My goal was to squeeze every point of health, damage, and resistance out of my creations that I could.

Nobody should ever feel bad about doing something so well that it causes the developers to change the system.

Shian, thing is, ANYONE can use these droids. Just looking at the stats for a droid that ANYONE can use (easily 100+ damage at neara rate of 2 hits/second and accuracy of around .3, 1k+ HAMs with AR1 and 20% resists across the board) is easily far better than any creature that I, a novice creature handler, can possibly hope to tame or control (according to what the developers seem to intend). *I* spent 49 skill points to be able to control that creature. It's not just a "pet" for me. It's my PROFESSION. I concede that the Terminator analogy was hyperbole, but honestly, compare it. Go to www.swgcreatures.com and look up CL 12 creatures.

We'll take a swamp gurrcat for example.

1.3k HAM, NO res, NO AR, one special (crippling strike), base to-hit .29, damage 130-140, speed 2

Compare that to an "inexpensive" droid that a DE 0001 can make. Citing J'Vee's creation (http://www.jveedroids.com/models.html)

DZ70 droid stats:

1k HAM, 40% res, base to-hit not stated, damage 115, speed 1.8

Point by point comparison:

Gurrcat has 300 more HAM. Gurrcat "wins"

Droid has 40% more res. Droid "wins"

Base to-hit rate not given for droid, so I will assume, for benefit of the doubt, that gurrcat's is better, although droids are almost universally better. Gurrcat "wins"

Gurrcat has at the least 15 more points of damage. Gurrcat "wins"

Droid is .2 faster than Gurrcat. Droid "wins"

Synopsis:

Gurrcat has better ham, but the 40% resistance of the droid more than makes up that difference. Multiply the droid's HAM by 1.4 to get the equivalent HAM and the droid has 100 HAM more. To-hit rate is probably relatively equal, with droid likely being higher in reality. Comparing the damage potential and speed, over nine seconds the gurrcat will do 55 more damage at most (140 damage multiplied by 4.5 hits) than the droid (115 damage multiplied by five hits), assuming a similar to-hit rate.

Conclusion:

The gurrcat, as an example of a CL 12 creature, is just about equal to one of the most basic combat droid models. I spent 49 skill points to be able to tame and control the gurrcat. You can buy and control a droid with no skillpoint expenditure.

Sure, I can go get myself a droid, too (and trust I will). But why are we (CH's) having to pay 49 skillpoints to be able to have the same effectiveness with creatures? And why are we (BE's) being told our CL 10's are too powerful if people can just buy a probot? A CL 10 creature is a white star to me. The higher end droids are red stars. Again, how is it that a probot can be bought and used with no skill points spent when a CL 10 creature with 2k HAMs is too powerful??

And here's some crow for you, fishface. I AM a BE. I am also a CH. I am a TKA, I am a Dancer. Get info before you start trying to flame people.

And Shian is trying to be reasonable. Her posts are of a lot better quality than I see on most of these boards, so her input is quite welcome, at least by me, even if she isn't a BE.

Specifically:

Sorry Senavi, but you shouldn't use outdated and inaccurate info to build your case. HAM and damage got revamped as of publish8, both are even higher now, so a point for you, but your statistics for armor are woefully incorrect. Droid armor that displays 40% resists is really only 20%, and we have AR0 not AR1. Also one little tidbit you're forgetting is that, you as a CH can have BOTH your Gurrcat and a Probot at the same time.

If this is the BE forums, why are you citing a CH captured natural critter? I call Apples and Oranges on that. Let's compare a BE lvl 12 usable by a novice CH with a Probot then we might be able to engage in a meaningful comparison.

Generally:

As I said in the other DE slam thread today, I am MDE and my alt is MBE I don't pretend to understand the full ins and outs of cloning yet, but I plan to learn as much as I can. Each system has advantages to it. However I feel that if a knowledgeable DE is reading these forums and sees misinformation, they are more than welcome to comment.

Different Professions shouldn't become adversarial. If you let the beknighted development culture for SWG make us enemies, then we as customers of SOE have lost. In an adversarial environment you may not find out something useful, like the fact that one of our new droid modules resolves one of your BE Issues.

Psikobunny, I had not yet been able to log on to see the changes that happened on the 28th. I did not, in fact, log on until roughly 11 PM PST. So to the best of my knowledge at the time, that information was correct.

And frankly, yes, I was using low-end comparisons. For both sides. Let's do take the probot versus a BE 12. A "legitimate" BE 12, if you will. I don't have the time atm to research the figures, but I'm sure they're at least comparable to one another. And no, I didn't forget that I can go pick up a probot. In fact, I mentioned that myself in my own post, if you'll take another looksee. My contention is that I shouldn't have to spend 49 skill points to be able to use something that's probably the rough equivalent of a probot.

Thing is...can you use a droid and a creature at the same time? Last time I tried, you couldn't. So the fact that you can have both is kind of moot since you can't use both at the same time.

I welcome constructive criticism and argument against my thoughts, but Kevie, you're no help to either me or psikobunny with your redundant (to psiko) commentary. Make yourself useful.

Scratch the "A "legitimate" BE 12, if you will." line. Still have cl 10's on my mind, sorry.
