Yep I found this too, but the only thing is I find this to be more for the experienced BE whos more comfortable. A new BE when a battle is going on outside around them and people screaming in group chat "HOW MUCH LONGER!?!!", etc that taking the time to try and get mutliple match sets out of 1 string will only slow things down or make them more nervous. True, you can get mutiple matches, but IMO its not necessarily faster because you now have to analyze every letter in the chain and match them to the list of 23 1 at a time rather then the first one only.

Hehe, completely agree. Nothing worse than a nervous group of raiders screaming at the BE to finish up...they have no idea how hard it is to figure out in your first tries. The only time I suggest using the middle letters is for the last few tries. Really sucks when you have 4 Gs left and can't get a C to save your life.

heh i was lucky and saw this thread earlier this afternoon and bookmarked it and

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=57674

is another explanation from another point of view which is similar. Though from your thread Ackis, I saw that the terminal wouldn't do anything for you? Maybe this is the answer I was looking for, and that the 5 dna samples that my friends told me to bring let you activate this whole puzzle game

That system seems retarded to me...but this is a great explanation!

Please sticky this!

You don't need any items to do the terminal. You can go in there with an empty inventory and complete your part.

Remember BEs do the Override Terminal. An easy way to find this is the type "/target override" when inside the base and run to the target. Its also a great way to check if the terminals have spawned.

Yah, that was what I was thinking after I read this thread... I didn't have samples, I had templates. LOL

Do you get experience for hacking the terminal btw?

Huh interesting, did the system change very recently? My guildies were telling me to bring samples only about, umm, 2 weeks ago.

Not at all, its just that most people have no idea how to do the BE part of a base raid.

I was trying to do a terminal this week and I couldn't... I had the option but it never brought anything up for me... I never had any dna on me however.

I've taken down 15bases without having DNA samples. If you are trying to take down an NPC standing faction base you won't be able to, those are bugged and won't say a thing to anyone. Thats the only situation where I could think you would just get nothing from the terminal. Also make sure the BH and Slicer have done their part, otherwise if you're not getting any message about why the terminal won't work its bugged in some way. Everytime you try to take down a PC base the terminals should give you a reason whether you can or can't access the terminal.

That must've been why then... it was a NPC base that I was going after.
