If roleplaying is should be the filter, then some professions would be unacceptable to go together. For example... did you know that the TKAs are around to keep the Jedi power in check. So being an Antarian Ranger and a TKA would be unlikely. And yet that is what I am aiming for (should AR accept me and I get my skills up). So my point is not everything can be roleplaying. I do agree that if you are in a faction you should have the right to, and probably should, refuse to train someone of the opposite faction... otherwise you should be neutral.

Precisely. The best part is, when you actually talk to people (roleplay) and such before training them, they get really impatient and they totally don't understand. In fact I think they get more annoyed than they would if I just right-out denied them training.
My policy:
Roleplay every encounter. If the training comes in the course of roleplay, then it's cool, and if it doesn't they're out of luck. Most of the time if they're rebels I'll train them for free, or if my character admires/likes/respects them considerably. Other times, I charge people for training, and usually I get the "screw you, cheapskate" reaction - but in a real situation people don't spend time training others for free.
Sometimes, though, if I'm in a big hurry, and someone who's a rebel, who I don't dislike, asks me for training, I'll just give it to them. Gotta help the cause, whether or not I have time to roleplay it.

Actually, in the EU, there was a Jedi who actually was trained in TK. Not sure what the name was or when it was, but I know he was a twi'lek. I'd have to check out the Power of the Jedi sourcebook at home to get his name.
Regardless, I see nothing wrong with a factioned player not wishing to help an opposing faction player in game.

I'll turn this around and ask why not Ranger? Remember some people like to think of Rangers from the military point of view (even though they aren't that way in the game). Granted, I've never been asked that question or been refused on a training request because app xp seem to be in high demand, but even if it happened it wouldn't be a big deal. How long did it take you to finally get trained? A few extra minutes?

I'm not complaining about the time factorat all, it took me all of 2 min to run over to the ranger trainer in coronet to get the training instead. I just happen to view ranger as more of a "way of life" so to speak, not militarily as apparently some do. Obviously he viewed it as such, and it was his right to refuse trainingas he did.

Personally, I won't train any member of a PA that has actively fought against my PA, unless they are Rangers. Grinders are SOL.
You fight against me, and you are not a Ranger, but let's say going to become a CH or BH... too bad, so sad. move along.
The Rangers I train. Most Scouts can find a member of their own PA to train em, not like I need the AXP.
Discrimination, nahhh, just keeping the population of people I have to kill anyhow in check.
