Thread: I guess faction aligned crafters are SOL in a few weeks.

I don't have any faction perks and I am not requesting any. Some people don't seem to understand what it is I'm saying, although I'm putting it into plain english.

I just want to support my faction without being constantly slaughtered by imp NPC's every time I leave my house (I live on tat, close to bestine. There are ALWAYS large groups of stormies within a few hundred yards of my place). I think it's outragious that to support a faction you have to participate in combat beyond the times you may get searched and revealed as a rebel.

As to BE/Master Rifleman, I own and run a shop, with multiple vendors so I don't have to sell pets, pet care items, tailor & chef tissues all in one big vendor. This means I need several skills in merchant. I want to actually have some business, that means advertising on the map, that requires more merchant skills. I want to be able to get my own high end DNA samples, that means taking Explore 4. I want to not die instantly when I am sampling high end mobs so that means I have to wear armor. I am bothan so that means any armor I use either has to be sliced or I have to wear less then comp if i plan on not going around buffed all the time. Seeing how I wear two pieces of BE'd clothing to increase my mask scent I also like armor I can put on and take off. As to weapon skills I'm 0/0/1/0 swordsman. Enough to defend myself from lower end mobs but not even close to enough to take on a full set of stormies without being buffed.

An option to let non-combatants support their chosen faction without being 'lambs to the slaughter' is ALL I ASK.

Isn't there an option in the proposedTEF changes that allows pvp-disabled(covert) faction aligned players to be "on-leave". When "on-leave" you cant attack opposite faction npc's and I think they can't attack you. So when you need to go out and about you just make sure you are "on-leave" and you are good to go.

I havent read the TEF changes since they first came out a week ago and don't know if the on-leave option is still in the works.

The new changes will allow any opposing faction NPC to attack you unless you're "on leave" from the GCW.

personally as a MBE/MDOC I don't have any sp left over for fighting skills, but I will not drop my faction. I'm just going on leave. That way if I decide to drop BE down the line or maybe Doc, I won't have to grind out my rank again.

I don't see these changes having that much of an effect as people think it will.

Agreed. My Crafter Alt has no Combat so he will go "on leave" when the change comes. Still part of the faction but not attackble. My BE Alt has enough combat that, if buffed, should not have too much problem surviving long enough to get away from any NPC. Also a good point made earlier was not to carry sliced weapons or spices. AltoughI do not think that keeps you from being outed completelyit probably does reduce the chance.

Cheers!

PvP Faction: Able to be attacked on sight by players of the opposing faction
PvE Faction: Able to be attacked on sight by NPCs of the opposing faction
On Leave: Similar to todays "covert". Member of a faction but not attackable by the opposition unless "outed".

On Leave doesn't give you protection from combat but it could be what's best for faction oriented non-combat crafters.

Well as long as I can go on leave for a while when I need to go out into the rest of the galaxy I'm ok with the changes. I think for the most part the changes are going to make the game a lot more fun for a lot of people. Also I am fine with searches and all that, typically they dont' find anything cause my rank is high enough but sometimes they do, and sometimes they make me overt. Pain in the arse but I deal with it.

I love what the devs have been doing and how they have been working since JtLS and I cant wait to see what the next year brings to the game. I just was very worried what these changes were going to mean to I'd say the majority of major crafters in the game. Crafters with little to no combat skill. I guess when these changes get on test I'll be there checking them now.

Now only if the devs would make a Starsider-Test for once!
