Thread: Is BE impact ever considered when CH's are nerfed?
I say this is a huge problem. As pointed out in this thread becoming a CH is a natural choice for us BE's. But, at the same time, us BE's are the "dabblers" in CH that are being nerfed. My whole profession revolves around being knowledgable in the creature deeds I sell. Just how am I supposed to explain the attributes of a creature without being a CH, and now a MCH?
Secondly, it is said that there will be more baby spawns around for CH to tame.
Third, transfer is to become a MCH ability. It was already a stretch to attain lvl 4 in management to get transfer, now you need to Master.
This whole idea puts the cloning creatures into unviable non existence. I guess if you became a BE for the tissues, then all the more power to you. All we are good for is pet stims and tissues that a Master BE can make.
I have the same sentiment as someone else I read around here. Hopefully I find a holocron soon so I have a reason to drop BE and CH that involves playing the game and not because of an ill thought out nerf that pushes BE's back two steps.
instead this will make MORE MASTER CH's
i mean come on!...without a tank ya cant win!...this will force the dabblers to go full CH and cut back on the combat side...once they fix our clone line we will have PLENTY of wanting customers
and...am i the only one to read the post this way...it seems they got rid of Max # of pet lvls...so a MCH should be able to call out 2 rancors
and why is everyone making a big deal about the mounts taking up pet lvls...call your mount...ride to the mission...dismount...camp...call your pet and wack away
im sure i must be reading TH's post wrong..cuz this seems too good to be true

"Umm, are people forgetting that most likely people will start dropping their dabbler CH skills?"
No, we haven't forgotten. I think it's been said already that this will have CH's dropping like flies. Our whole market gets whacked. Pet's and Pet Stims alike will be much less in demand. Chefs don't use us, and once tailors saturate the market our Tissue market will dry up as well.
Where is the long term viability for our class? A smaller CH market will not support a large BE market. By necessity the number of BE's will need to shrink. It's Economics 101: Supply and Demand.

"Also, there used to be six different skillmods which determine whether or not you can tame or call a particular pet. That will be changed and now there will be only one skillmod which will tell players what level pet they can summon."
For MCH's this level is 60. They also get +1 creature to control at MCH. So yes, you could read it that an MCH can call two level 60 pets. If that were true I'd be happy. I've always thought that the cap on MCH's was a bit ridiculous. This needs clarification though. The same number might be doing double duty for the number of levels out at a given time which means MCH's are back to 20/40, 30/30 or some similar combination of pets out at a given time.
I'll do some poking around on the CH boards to see if anyone knows,

How many of you really enjoy sitting around all day making kaadu? Kaadu, kaadu, kaadu, kaadu, kaadu, kaadu, kaadu, kaadu.....and the best part is that since any novice can make them they will all sell for 3K or less. No more nonCH pet sales, just kaadu.
About as much fun as making pet stims isn't it? If I want to do something boring for money I'd buy a bunch of harvesters and leave it at that.
I planned on making interesting clones, not the same clone over, and over, and over, and then taking them out to the field and testing them. How would I have known that kahmurras are slow on hills or that dewbacks are cowards without using them myself? How will I know if it's better to experiment on more HAM or a special attackon an animal if I don't make several prototypes and take them hunting? From that perspective, and just because, oh surprise, I like creatures, my skillpoints are locked into a combat profession that does little to protect me. Going from 40 creature levels down to 25 for the same number of skillpoints is really gonna hurt. I might have just sucked it up and only kept enough CHto be able to call and test the nonCH pets,so I could put more points into combat, but guess what? That market is gone.
Right now I'm not even sure that cloning fixes can save the profession. How much leeway are they really going to give us in our experimentation? Is it going to be enough to couteract the reintroduction of babies, including the special rare types? Putting untamables in our templates is an illusion. The actual animal isn't going to be there, it's just going to look like the same animal. Will it be enough to stand up to the reduction in the CH population? If all CH's are grinding their butts off to become masters doesn't that mean that we will mostly sell the same master creature template over and over with a different skin on the outside? I'm not a scientist, I'm a vet, a kaadu dealer, and a creature image designer who can't walk from town to my house without being attacked by an entire gang of Jabba's thugs.
This hurts our class, and our already limited market. Although I can see the need to adjust the skill trees in the creature handler class, the impact I fear on us will be just as great.
Although the cloning changes promised might change this, we still have no solid idea when they will arrive, what exactly they will entail (other then some vaguely worded answers) and I doubt we will see them in the upcoming patch. Having bothmounts and player cities go live at the same time I think will be enough pots on the fire for SOE, I really dont think they will be anxious to add in a whole new system of game mechanics on top of that for an underplayed class.
I see the BE's have figured out that they got as hammered as the CH's. Hope you didnt like making money on Pet stims since that market will dry up as the devs try to get rid of the CH profession. I think this is a terrible plan by the devs.
More good news for you also. New babies so we do not come to you for pets. You lucky fellas!
