Last I heard, they are tradeable, but 1 use only....

People are auctioning them on my Server board.

Frankly i hate the idea of having to master a certain profession as part of unlocking your slot. Frankly I didn't make the effort to master scout and bioengineer in order to then be forced to give it up and relearn it if I want to play as a Jedi eventually. Frankly simply mastering ANY profession shouldn't be part of the path since it totally removes the chance of dabblers getting anywhere.

The same question occurred to me a couple of days ago. Then I remembered a Correspondent has access to a terminal on Test Center to get free experience in their Correspondent Profession. They could follow the Holocron path on a production server, and ramp up their BE skills on Test Server to match what they were once in production.

I would sincerely hope, though, that if a Correspondent took that route they would either seriously commit to actively playing their Correspondent class or have the good grace to ask SOE to replace them.

As for me, Holocrons be blasted. I'm a Bio-Engineer, first and foremost. Chose the profession even before I made the character. I'll either get a FSCS because I happened to wildly coincidentally stumble on the necessary skill combination or I won't get it at all. But either way, I'm going to do what I'm going to do. And like it.

Roarcc,

Raph did say that the path to the FSCS would require a change in playing style for most folks. Most players, especially veterans ofother MMORPGs,have a particular style that they prefer(combat/exploration/crafting/healer). They arelikely to stick with professions that they find enjoyable. A few players are a bit more adventurous and will try out the smorgasbord of professions that are out there. Players that are new to MMORPGs are probably more likely to do so while they are exploring which playing style suits them, which fits with comments Raph made that newer players would find it easier to open the FSCS.

If you're happy with BEabout the FSCS then by all means stick with it. If you want an FSCS too then why not explore your particular list of "holocron designated"professions first? Once you open the FSCS slot I wouldn't think that therewould beanything keeping you from bringing your main character back to BE for good.

Do whatever makes you happy man,

Yep, I am happy with what I'm doing. And that is where I was coming from. Or to put it another way - there is nothing about Jedi more tempting to me than the forthcoming cloning changes.

If I were interested, however, I would likely do exactly as you suggested - follow the illuminated path with the full intention of returning to my original build.

I would keep BE as long as possible, especially since the changes we've been asking for since day one are getting closer. It would be ironic to give it up right before the cloning fix. But on the other hand, I could always build it back up again, especially since I won't be stumbling in the dark the second time around. Sometimes I thought it would be nice to be correspondent, but with things up in the air right now I'm not sure I would accept if offered. Sure there's test center, but there is the question of dividing time.

But the last two months there hasn't been much reason to play as a BE, unless you like tissues. I haven't made a clone in awhile except as a way to get rid of DNA samples I took for trophies. And I only make pet stims when the cash gets low. In fact I finally sold out and tamed a few nonBE pets to use. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yea, I'm baffled by the concept of essentially an NPC in-game telling you what profession you need to take up. From the perspective of people enjoying their gameplay experience this simply makes no sense at all. No idea what in the world they were thinking when they decided this.

Yeah, you don't have one.. But it is a big issue for people that want to apply to be your Correspondent.

It is a big issue w/ the people that already are Correspondents.
