Thread: Bio eng nerf coming! maybe maybe not
I haven't even started with tissues yet but I have two tailors wanting to partner up. Between time spent keeping my stim production running, making creatures, and playing ranger to collect DNA, I just don't have the time. Plus, the stim market is lucrative. I could make a fortune off of nothing but stims. I disagree with the pending nerf having a negative effect on our stim market. I would think that the the dabblers might try something else, but the people that were mastering CH will require more stims.. thus evening out, or even increasing demand. I don't think as many people will leave the CH profession because of the nerf.. it would probably be moreso out of just wanting to try something new.. boredom, if you will.
I wouldn't mind getting into tissues, but I don't have the time and I see less profit and more hassle than selling stims and pets. And when the cloning changes come in, who knows what will happen. We could be blessed or kicked while we're down.
I know not that many of you do. I am BE and CH,game in groups where there are non-CH. Of course they have pets. The Charred Corval (sp) beetle bug, is amazing. While the main Tanks and pets are taking down Bol males, The beetle stands there solo and holds off one of them. This little pet is what I would call little too good. Or maybe not. They seem to take amzing abuse. My GSP ends up about the same health at the end of the battle. So imo, some of the lower level pets are unbalanced. Most games go through this balanceing phase, so this is nothing new, unless you new to online gameing.
Once BE gets fixed, we will be the ones to make the best pets. Already we can make many that are better than can be had in the wild. So any degrade in CH pets from the wild will be a possitive thing for BE.
Sckoarn ;(
Well it is one of those "wait and see" things. We are told we can effect cl, specials, armor, etc. But if they make it so cl 30 and lower creatures can't have armor in the wild...can we put armor on them in clone? If that is the case the demand for BE pets will increase.
Another factor will be when DEs are fixed. If they can make some awsome tank or combat droids (like the old probots) then the pet market will get smaller. People go CH now to use a tank. If they can give up the points to do another class and have a bot be the tank, alot of dabblers will drop CH.
With all of these changes, depending how it goes, the non-ch market will be our very best market. People can have a pet/mount + combat droid.
As for pet stims - they should always be a semi-stable income. Mounts will need healing and such since they can be targeted and take damage. If creatures agro on the mount and not the rider....that will have a large demand for vitality/stim packs.
/sits back and waits to read THs post on DE and CH.
I doubt that the entire CH profession is suddenly going to dry up. A lot of people will quit, but overall the population will stabilize. People starting the game won't even know what the early CH profession was like, just as there will be those who won't remember what the early days of BE were like. Imagine the day when this board will be less about our problems and more about exchanging creature recipes and tips on where to find the good resources. Maybe a few innovative ideas that might have a chance of going in once something similar to balance is achieved. We've been in the dark for so long that it's hard to imagine the day.
Seriously I don't think the devs are trying to destroy the game. They're trying for balance which is something that has been neglected for so long that we don't even know what it looks like anymore. I'm not always sure that they know what it looks like, which is why we will still be here hammering it into their heads until we come up with something that most of us can live with. I say most because you will have people complaining no matter what you do.
By the way...is cloning ready yet???? Or should I hold off on ordering my own personal Igor from Uberwald for another month?
No I'm not interested in making a zillion kaadus. Or a zillion pet stims. I just want my animals to spit!
Ack! I take it all back...where the @#$# is my hammer?
Only one pet, including mounts, allowed except for MCH? Are they kidding? Please tell me they're kidding! Either we'll all be walking, or, we'll be making kaadu over and over until we want to die!
:finds a quiet corner and starts to cry.
Will we have to wait until vehicles are implemented to have a real creature market?
When it comes to the latest CH nerf nobody seems to be doing the math. Let me use myself as an example:
- BE 2/2/4/1
- CH 1/1/1/1
- Pistol Specialist
The plan is (or maybe was) to go all the way to MBE/MCH/PS with a few points left over for various supporting skills. So far, so good, right?
With the proposed changes my CH skills will be reduced from handling a level 25 creature down to a level 14 creature and I'll have to make upalmost 300,000 xp's to get back to handling the same level of creatures I can controlnow!
Where's the fun in that?
Now, consider the possibility that a lot of CH's will quit over this (which I think is highly likely). Also consider that the ones that do stay will be buying high level creatures later in their careers. Assuming there are more low level CH's than high level CH's, the net effect will be a reduction in our market and in the number of high end, high credit creatures that we sell. DNA from a high level creatureis wasted on the majority of our market which is now reduced from level 15 to level 10. There goes our incentive to sample anything but yard trash in the n00b areas.
Where's the fun in that?
Maxing out my weapon skills and going holocron hunting is starting to sound really good right about now...

I really dont have a problem with CH being Nerfed. I dont like the class anyway plus i want to be able to actually sell some pets that arn't gonna be used a furniture to decorate some1's house!
Im a riflemen/BE and my mate is a riflemen/ch i started one month before him we play exactly the same amount pretty much and he is at least 2 or 3 skills ahead of me in riflemen, and why is this, cos his **edit** mauler helps him solo piket missions and fambaa mission whereas any lair with more than one defender kicks my arse! taken them a while to notice the inbalance dont ya think.

A wise BE would not base his career entirely on Bio-Eng Pets sales ... The Pet Stims and Tissues market are by far much more profitable. I fear not for the BEs.
dude this affects the pet stim market drastically. lets see how many people drop their few skill points in CH entirely and head for something that packs a punch like commando. then who the **edit** are you gonna sell stims to?
