all i got out of the original post was...

fyi, the sites i was talking about are linked there cause im too lazy to fnd them and post the URLs...

and... that im not saying my site is better...

and... my sig.. which doesnt count.

sooooooooooooo..... no.. i wasnt advertising my site.. and if i did.. forgive me, there was no intention..

as for the price guide.. the reason its bad (and not just an opinion) is that they're presenting it AS IF it SHOULD be used as a guide.. or the rule of thumb.. for bio eng prices.. i don't want newbs going to that site and thinking they have to price things at that level.. maybei shouldn't be concerned with their well being.. but where's the community in that? its a threat in my opinion.. so im taking a stand and recieving the flames the best i can.

voicing your opinion? hmm.. well.. you just flamed me... in fact.. 2 or 3 people flamed me... and told me not to speak... don't you consider that as bad as the non-community-ness that i was presenting by bashing a website? you bashed me. you're being hypocritical to an extent... just to point it out.. but atleast i think you're allowed to have your opinion.. just as im allowed to defend or initially state.. mine...

You know I have not gone to a site to look at a Price guides because well....

You cant really create one for this proffession or any other.

You can put down the average prices for each server for things...but you also have to take into account the quality.

You see each server has its own independent dynamic economic structure, and then each plkanet diversifys it more.

As was pointed out, some Kahmurras are being sold for 2k to 3k on the bizaar, some people sell them for more...the quality of the high priced ones, may be lower then the cheaper ones or vice versa.

Our, trade....Bio-Engineering....is specialized.....the game it self, almost totally encourages us to be recluses, who mostly deal with each other, and every once in a while sell to normal people.....

I for one give most of my pets away for free, I dont make them that bad either....I saw someone on scylla the opther day I assume selling rancors....for very high prices, and they where not as well built as the ones I make.....

But you see, due to the fact that I too am a Bio-Engineer, proffessional curtousy dictates I dont bad mouth the person or steer people away.....

I look at it as that we the bio-engineers need to support each other....

So for the price thing....I will not compete directly with any other bio-engineer...instead if one is selling something, I may sell a very low quality or higher quality version....but at prices that are comparible....maning that the other bio-engineer items will be the medium price...and mine are the low end ones or high end ones....

In fact I usually will not sell the same products in the same areas, and will go to some other places to sell things....different cities and places.

So anywise....I guess what I am saying is...I to dont like price guides, but I like to know who all the bio-engineers on the server are...
Not for competition but to balance the area.

By the way, my Bio-Engineer is on Scylla.
As are many other Bio-Engineers.....its beginning to look like Intrepid....I can't go anywhere with out seeing a Bio-Engineer title.....which in my mind is the coolest thing.

No if only our stufff was fixed...and we could get Milk and Molusks.

I fail to understand what you guys have against price guides, I really do. Of course those complaining about that are people who have played for a few months as a BE and perhaps have forgotten what it is like to start out. I think personally they are very useful as a "starting point" to developing your own pricing. They have been very helpful to me in the past. When I first became a tailor I was suddenly faced with a situation where I could make over 100 different items, and customers always want to know "how much?". I looked at several different pricing guides (there are like 4 or 5 or more posted in the tailor forum, which is great), experiemented with varients, and came up with my own pricing which continues to evolve over time. Saved me a ton of time. I'm always happy to share it with anyone. Then I started a merchant character who crafted none of his own goods, he simply buys things at wholesale prices and sells them at relail prices. Try coming up with "original" pricing to 4 or 5 completely different product lines from completely different professions without the benefit of price guides and see how you fair. If you were to try this, I dare say, you'd be begging for a price guide or two, even if the next day you took a pencil and scratched out all the prices and put your own. Also probably at least 1 out of 10 threads in the crafting profession forums has to do with pricing and I see all you guys chiming in on those threads. So apparently people are in favor of disclosing their pricing, but against compiling such information? Makes no sense to me. But hey, the good news is that next week you'll get to repost all your prices again 3 or 4 times when people ask for it again, lol.

Also if you look at pet stims, they have become quite commoditized. Variations? yes, but the number of people using extremely similar pricing (if not identical) pricing is certainly no coincidence. A hundred different BE's didn't just independently arrive at the same prices. Why not publish this information? I'm not talking about price fixing, there's obviously no enforcement, just simply some information on what some folks charge. Makes it easier for people entering the market, and the more informed people are when starting out, the less stress it cases them and others already established. Undercutting is less of a problem for BE's than probably every other profession right now because of the enormous pricing power we enjoy, but this may not always be the case, especially if pets are nerfed and droids are pumped up (like is happening right this minute).

Now, all that said, I do agree about this particular site. Don't like it, don't find it useful, don't think the price guide is rational nor reflective of trends that I've observed either on this forum or in-game. Personally I just keep a browser page open on Bio 101 and swgcraft at all times. Great sites, great info, although they'd both be better if they had price guides, lol.

Plageron, no dude, that's just you. The profession is what you bring in to it. Personally, BE is a "people business" for me. They encourage that by making so many interdependencies. Constant interaction with medical suppliers, miners, rangers, hunting friends, business partners, CH's, tailors, and customers. About the only "solitary" time I have is dna sampling, just because it's too boring for my non-BE friends to tag along, but even then, I'm more often than not chatting with someone while doing it.

Fellas (and Ladies).... we have enough problems with the BE profession to deal with. We don't need a BE civil war on our hands in this forum.

If somebody wants to build a site and offer their opinon on pricing or tips to level...good for them. If you want to bookmark the site...good for you. If you don't agree with the site... don't go to the site. Thats the basic Internet way. Nobody is holding a blaster to your head to agree with any site out there.

The frustration I am seeing here (and on other posts recently)reflects the state of the BE profession and lack of Dev or Correspondent posts here. There is no need to take it out on each other. Regardless if you like/don't like 'Bio Eng web site ____', realize that somebody cares enough about the BE profession to spend their time to put together a web site.

my 2 cents.

Yes, it can be an emotional explosion to decide who should go to what web site.
