Thread: Gurreck on order, what should I expect?

ok, but realize you are also disagreeing(sp?) with kel who specifically told us this is how it works.
What Kel *thinks* will happen and what truely happens can be two different things (can you say 100% aggro anyone). This isn't as obvious as the 100% aggro but from my experience it's what happens. I bought a whole bunch of junk meat to make for stuff like Kimogilas and/or sampling Blurrgs. I was losing them left and right to critical failures.
There are also threads on here where people experience high number of critical failures. From the those threads we've gathered that the combination of high quality (+42ish) personal food & chem crafting station and high quality (+14.88ish) food & chem crafting tools with low quality resources == Many Critical Failures.
Just my two cents. Use low quality resources and high quality stations at your own risk.

what are you talking about?
you do realize that you are quoting my response to greenstock in the post before your last one and you posted only seconds before me up there.
kel told us that DNA is what has always made a creature strong or weak and the final combine(where the resources go in) only has a marginal effect on the final stats. of course i always use the best resources i can, im not saying anyone shouldnt. but thats what i was talking about in the post you are quoting (the earlier one).
as for resources affecting critical failure rates, i have seen no evidence at allto support this. i have only ever seen resource quality effect base stats and experimentation range. i have had unlucky streaks of critical failures using the same meat i used without any problems the night before. you also have fewer crits as you level in BE, are you sure your skills arent just higher than when you were using the low quality meat? i would be hard pressed to beleive that resource quality can have any affect onsomething that takes place before resource quality is even processed.

Critical Failures whencombining the DNA template and flora/meat.

Ok, so you disagree. That's fine with me. There are other threads that suggest that low quality resources combined with high quality crafting stations/tools result in higher critical failures. I'm not really trying to convince you, just presenting my information and experiences for others to digest/consume and make there own opinion.

thats fine, but your point is irrelevant to the discussion. nobody was talking about critical failures, crafting stations, crafting tools, or anything you mentioned. we were talking about the amount of impact quality of resource has on the stats of a clone.
Sure it does. You mentioned that quality of the meat/resource didn't have any affect on the quality of the final product (from my experience I agree with that part). I just merely added to that by stating I've experience more critical failures with using lower quality meat/flora. I find it relevant because in the fact the mentioning to people that resource quality doesn't matter you do run the risk of more likely losing your DNA template with using lower quality resource (and it sucks to lose a good DNA template you've spent a long time to make).

take another pass at it and please point out where i"mentioned that quality of the meat/resource didn't have any affect on the quality of the final product." i dont see how anyone couldmisinterpretthat as severely as you did, maybe youre as tired as i am right now.
just so theres no further confusion, here are Kel's words:
"...keep in mind that this part of the crafting process [final creature combine] has a relatively small effect on final creature, the DNA template is where the big changes happen. Currently it feels like you’re losing a whole lot due to the bug, but in reality there’s not a whole lot there to gain."

I agree with all of the above.
I agree with your exact quote:
"...resources have only a marginal effect on the final stats of the pet"
I am ADDING to that quote by sayingthat I get more critical failures on the combining (NOT THE EXPERIMENTATION) of the DNA Template with mea/flora with low quality resources when higher quality resource. The quality of the resources doesn't have any affect on the stats which is what Ke' is saying.

this is the last time im gonna say it (OMG!! lol)
marginal affect.
one more time?
marginal effect.
resource quality does affect the clone's stats, but only marginally. -_-;;

Well, I'm not giving up.
Get some sleep and then reread what I'm trying to say. I agree with the marginal affect thingy you're saying above (does the underlining help?) with regards to final stats output.
What I am saying has nothing to do with stats. I am saying that resource quailty has an affect on losing the dna template to critical failure (and from my experience more the marginal).

i understand what you are saying and you are all over the place. first you said it was your humble opinion that low quality resourcescontribute tocritical failures. i disagreed because that hasnt been my experience and theres no evidence to support it. then you suggested that it was somehow related to the tool/station quality wrapping bug to try to give it clout. then you said you agreed that there quality had no effect on stats (not what i was saying at all). and now all of a sudden you "agree"that quality DOES have affect on statsand that i should sleep.you obviously dont understand a word ive been saying ("marginal thingy" ,,, blah) so i give up.
analogy:
me: "i like pie"
you: "i agree, cheese is yellow sometimes"
me: "what the h#ll are you talking about?"
you: "cheese is YELLOW sometimes"
me: "i was talking about pie"
you: "all pies have cheese in them"
me: "but i wasnt even talking about that, i was justsaying that i like pie"
you: "im saying that i agree thatall pies have cheese but im adding that cheese is yellow sometimes"
me: "agree? thats not even what i was talking about!"
you: "well, im not giving up. read what i said, you must be tired. i told you i agree, why cant you understand"
me: *sigh*
oh well, I tried. Let the readers decide. ![]()

At 4/2/4/3, the best I made was an 11k HAM gurreck with 505-515 damage. That was with Fambaa DNA and flora/meat with 500 OQ/PE tops.
At 4/2/4/4 the best I've made so far is 11.5k HAM, 490-500 damage or so. Bolle bol DNA and also crappy meat/flora (500 OQ/PE tops).
I figure I could make better if I went to Endor or Dath and got some better DNA.
In the wild, Gurrecks are 11.3k HAM and 540-550 (?) Damage I beleive.
